Something that I thought was unnecessary a week ago may be imperative this morning. Elevate Kim Mulkey to WBB coach and Director of Athletics for Women's Sports with a seat on the committee assigned to recommend the new arena site. This position should include separate fund-raising abilities to appeal to those who wish to contribute specifically to women's athletics. Kim's reach goes well beyond the usual donors and should be utilized.

Dr. Livingstone, this could well be your signature decision at Baylor. The clock is running....

To whom would AD Mulkey report?

To who would AD Mulkey report?
To President Livingstone and the BOR.

I'd really like this. However, we might need to be prepared for a revolving door of coaches in women's athletics...because Kim isn't going to tolerate losing in any sport. That's why I love her so much. She hates losing more than she loves winning.

That is unworkable
All women's coaches are accountable to Mulkey and she reports to the president? Does any other school with an AD for women's athletics do this?

As much as I did not want Mulky to give up coaching at the time, I thought and now really think she should have been name AD to succeed Ian. I think she would have had even football in better shape than it has been.

If I knew Ian's successor was going to run her off in a few years. I would have really thought it better to have her as AD than women's HC.

Why would this be any different from men's coaches who are accountable to the AD who reports to the President (some schools Chancellor) and the BOR?

I'm going into the desert to prospect for a few days and will be back after all this has played out. Contemplate & meditate too.

Bye.

Bring the Arizona HC back with you, if you don't mind.

You could pay her 2.5m to coach and 1.5m to be the woman's ad = 4m

I say its brilliant. Can Baylor pull this off before Monday?

This would also give KM more control over her program and remove the tie to Mack (which seems to be an issue now). Does anyone else not see all of this as brilliant? Why aren't we doing this? Everyone agrees KM is a legend. Everyone agrees we will be worse if she leaves.

Coach Tang, do you have any interest in being a head coach on the women's side? You are already a great fit for the university and for Waco. How about it?

Seriously, I really like this idea - most corporations run this way when they have multiple business units with separate "products". It's clear Mack doesn't understand women's sports....

Regardless, happy for Kim. Best of luck
