Molly was a division to coach for a number of years. She said one year in division one. AMAKA
AGUGUA-HAMILTO Is who you're missing the beat on. Too Sweet 16 appearances. Her team will be better at Missouri State this year in the last two. I hope you take Molly. We sure as hell don't want her leaving Springfield.

Missouri State was just as good under Harper as they were under Hamilton. I'm sure they'll be fine.

Just from what I have read, it is certainly possible that she could become the next Mulkey. However if she was to be hired there is one question, IMO, that would have to be answered in the positive in order to prevent a monumental setback to the program. Could she keep the current team? In other words, would the current players trust what is left of their careers to someone who has no real D1 experience? And sure, she might have some players transfer with her, but low D1 or D2 players are such for a reason. They would nowhere be even Big XII ready, much less even top 25 ready.

People here have done research on her. The general public has not. I suspect that most high school recruits have never heard of her, as well. And as such, could just write her and Baylor off out of hand if she has to start here with a depleted roster, a bunch of picked over players out of the transfer portal, and ends up with a poor record next season.

She may well be a great coach in a few years somewhere, but it is a gamble to say the least. Now, on the other hand getting an established coach can also risk landing in the Goestenkors situation that Texas suffered. Obviously no guarantees regardless of which direction you go. But I believe regardless of who you get, if the current team doesn't buy in and stay pretty much intact, we are going to see a setback of at least 3 years, if not longer.

While even getting an established coach, some or many of our players still might transfer, but the established coach at least has a track record for pulling in recruits or transfers. A new D1 coach does not have that track record and losing the ones we already have could be too deep a hole from which to dig out of in a reasonable time frame.

I don't think you can go ask players to OK your hire before you make it, but you better somehow have a good idea of how they will react.

Scott Drew went 20-11 (.645) in his first year as a D1 head coach (Valpo went 25-8 the previous year). Miller went 18-7 (.720) in her first year as a D1 head coach (GCU went 15-12 the previous year).
Right!! But.....we don't want to wait for another 18 years to win a title!

No we don't. And we shouldn't because...

Quote:

Scott Drew inherited a program mired in a miserable, scandalous condition with a depleted roster that required him to roam the campus looking for warm bodies. Miller would inherit a dynastic program with unbroken success at the highest level and top talent, including the B12 POY.

We are so blessed! Baylor WBB is in excellent condition. If we can get the right coach and keep a core of players and staff then we will be in a great position indeed. I know that is a big "if" but it's not like we are scraping the bottom of the barrel. Baylor is a great destination for any aspiring coach or player.

Hate losing Moon, if that's the truth. Having said that, that is one position in which we are solid, regardless of who the coach is.

Molly Miller is getting a lot of attention among Baylor Lady Bears fans, and has been a topic of discussion on SicEm365 Radio this week. Drake Toll on Up Tempo would like Molly to become the next WBB head coach at Baylor.

Yes, and I'll say again...We should all flood MR's in box with that video of Drake's 'infomercial' on Molly. I saw it has well over 4,000 views.

The Molly Miller cult is starting to closely resemble the Singletarians from football years.

One might wonder if Molly Miller was the be all end all that our fans want her to be, why didn't OU or anyone other P5 program searching for a coach have her at the top of their list. So, schools with mid-tier programs don't have her at the top of their list but one of the small handful of elite program's fan bases think she's our basketball messiah.

Agree
I was wondering who else had her targeted as the their next coach and what top level ballers has she recruited and signed

You bring up a legit point, but it won't matter in this thread.

I'm entertained watching the banter. It WILL NOT be Molly Miller. I guarantee it.

Please don't get lathered up too much over the Molly Miller chat on these free blogs. Mack Rhoades is smarter than all of us....and will hire someone no one is talking about. Mack Rhoades' marching orders from the school are to put a tourniquet on and slow the bleeding of money flowing out of the women's BB program now that the window of opportunity has been handed to them. Believe it.

Who else had Ryan McGuyre targeted as their VB coach? And yet with only NAIA head coaching experience he managed to recruit Yossiana Pressley and lead a BU team to the Final Four as the overall #1 seed. You recruit at the level at which your team plays. If you are going to win, you are going to have to get talent for whatever level that is. You don't win at D2 without getting good D2 talent and competing against other D2 programs to get it.

And forget about saying a D2 coach or a low or mid major doesn't have recruiting connections. In WBB there are thousands of AAU and HS players playing on the same clubs as the elite players, being coached by the very same AAU and HS coaches that aren't going to play big-time D1 ball, but are going to go play somewhere and their coaches have relationships with those other college coaches too. And those AAU and HS coaches know who develops their players best and takes good care of them. A coach that went 67-1 with a NC at D2 over 2 years got good players from good AAU teams from coaches who know who they are and had elite talent on those teams too.

That's not quite fair to Mike Singletary- at least he was a 10x Pro-Bowler and a Baylor alum

If Mike Singletary had an over 90% win percentage, you may have a point.

There are so many things to consider for this important coaching hire. Are the candidates own faith profiles healthy enough to have a positive influence on our young ladies on and off the court in keeping with our Baylor mission.

Mollie Miller and Jarrod Olson both fit that mold and would be well adapted to keeping the mission of Baylor in the forefront of interacting with our players.

Either Olson or Miller have proven track records of establishing winning teams at the D2 level and now at the D1 level. CBU went undefeated in the regular season and went on to lose to Rice in the NIT. Miller is just a little behind at GCU, but is already seeing great results.

Recruiting and coaching elite talent is the big question for these two. Given time, I don't think either would be a disappointment in the near future.

KBA, Frese. MESSER, Barnes/Arizona, Neighbors/Arkansas,Joni/Georgia are all proven at the elite D1 level, The question is whether this position would be their dream job and would they be comfortable exercising their faith in keeping with Baylor's mission.

Praying for discernment for all involved. I also pray that CKM will always be highly revered any time her name is mentioned on campus or if we ever have the opportunity to host her on campus. We witnessed some amazing things during her tenure and were so fortunate that she came our way over 20 years ago.

No! They are MUCH better under Mox. Anybody who thinks differently is stupid. If you've ever played basketball or understand it, it's laughable someone would make that assertion. Don't get me wrong, I like Molly. She played high school basketball with my niece. She's a Springfield girl. I attended OU. I could care less about Missouri State. I'm just saying Mox is a far superior coach. Let Molly do something on the Division I level.
