Nice! Hopefully we'll make at least one NCAA regional before the 30s begin. Such an exciting future for Baylor baseball. And the Gaines family seems to love Mitch so we know he's never going anywhere. Exciting times to be a Baylor fan. If Mitch does retire at any point in the next few years, I've heard there are a couple of coaches to keep an eye on.

Of course there's that guy who is killing it as HC of Robinson High School's freshman team. They went from a .336 win record last year up to .540 and climbing this year. He also serves as an assistant for the Robinson varsity squad, and there's talk about him getting promoted to first base coach next year.The 8th grade head coach at Texas Christian Academy has his team ranked 6th statewide in the TAPPS 3A division.

Aside from that, I'm not sure of any homerun candidates out there. I doubt James Leverton, the guy who replaced Mitch at MCC, has any interest in making a lateral move to Baylor. Obviously Kevin Schnall from Coastal Carolina or Dan Heefner from Dallas Baptist would never even remotely consider Baylor. At least that's my inference considering the fact that Baylor's current head coach was hired from the JUCO ranks.

Sounds similar to old school, pre-Drew Baylor basketball when they hired Jim Haller from MCC, then Gene "No Not That" Iba from D2 powerhouse Houston Baptist, then Darryl "The Procter Doctor" Johnson from Oklahoma Baptist then finally they just said "**** it" and hired the coach at Temple High to run a program that was about to join a conference with Kansas, Oklahoma, OSU, and Missouri. Yes, I'm moody right now.
