A little Rangers news is dropping here and there, time to start a thread for 2019 - the final season for the just now getting broken in Ballpark in Arlington aka Globe Life Field.

* the Rangers announced the signing of Hunter Pence to a minor league deal (hope he's healthy this year and turns into a major contributor in 2019)

* the date for Adrian Beltre's jersey retirement ceremony has been set - June 8th

* Joey Gallo donated cleats to an entire high school team in his Nevada hometown

67-95. They are taking the Braves' route and tanking until the new park opens. And then probably still a year away.

Probable (possible) starting lineup for Opening Day:

Catch - Jeff Mathis (I.K-F to backup)
1st - Ronald Guzman
2nd - Rougie Odor
SS - Elvis Andrus
3rd - Asdrubal Cabrera
OF - 3 of Mazara, DeSheilds, Choo
Gallo, Pence
SP - Mike Minor?

I don't think anybody thinks the Rangers are going to be challenging for a spot in the ALCS and a possible World Series run this year. Last year was a terrible season and they ended up with 67 wins; its unlikely they will have an even worse year in 2019. My thinking is that the Rangers will be battling around the .500 mark this season and finish with something close to 80 wins.

I was wondering when this would be. I'm specifically interested in the last game in the park. When do tickets for that game go on sale?

Like last year when the Rangers swept the Asstros in Houston.
The Rangers also lead the all time Silver Boot series by about 30 games.

Times change...
Like Waco golf.
There are new Sheriff's in town.
Will the Rangers have a 100 loss season?

No, i stated above that i believe the Rangers will not be worse than last year & will hover around .500 this year.

If the Rangers finish last again, it's not going to be due to their lineup. As an offense, they were about middle of the pack in MLB last year and I only see them getting better in that department. It's the pitching that is a complete disaster.

Mike Minor named the opening day starter.

72 wins. More if they get a combined 100 starts from the starting five.

Still can't believe thry need a new stadium.

First watched Leclerc in Frisco a couple of times, impressed enough to go down to Round Rock and get a signed jersey at auction. I think I was the only bidder. If he does 90% of what he did last year I may get a good return on ebay.

Seise is an exciting speedy youngster to watch. Had an inside the parker last week.

Pitching is huge question mark, but the lineup isn't very good
MrGolfguy

I'd be OK with 80 wins this year; especially considering the pitching outlook.

Agreed. So I'd like to see a lot of younguns get playing time, see guys moved around the field. A stable lineup doesn't have much value for a .500 team unless you've seen everybody. It just means you are committed to .500 ball for next year, too.

Seems a shame to send off a great stadium with what looks like a bad movie parody of a baseball team. Maybe they will surprise us with a similar hollywood script season....but doubtful.

Opening Day !!!

The Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the 3rd off a Elvis Andrus HR. Since then its back to reality, losing 12-2 in the 8th.

Looking forward to 6 more months of this

You might need to acquaint yourself with some Rangers history

The opening day roster was fairly bleak. I can't believe we still have DeShields hitting leadoff.

Oh man I understand the lack of pitching through the years. The whole roster is rough. Might be time to go for an Astros rebuild. Trade Andrus / any one else valuable for a pool of prospects and hope we suck enough to get Shea Langaliers in the draft

What is the actual reason for scheduling a day off after opening day, then playing the same team that had to spend another day in Arlington, or vice versa, in a given year?

Astros rebuild already had key pieces in org, like Kuechel, Altuve, Springer
