Baylor Volleyball Earns Four AVCA Regional Awards

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Highlighted by setter Averi Carlson being named Freshman of the Year, Baylor volleyball had four players named Southwest All-Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, the organization announced Tuesday.
Carlson becomes just the third player in program history to earn Southwest Region Freshman of the Year honors, the last being Yossiana Pressley in 2017. Senior middle blocker Kara McGhee became the Bears’ 22nd All-Region selection, while Carlson and seniors Lauren Harrison and Mallory Talbert were Honorable mention picks.
This is Harrison’s second-straight season to earn an Honorable Mention nod.
The AVCA will announce the DI All-American selections on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
WHAT’S NEXT
The Bears face Louisville on Thursday in the Regional Semifinals in the KFC Yum! Center. The “Sweet 16” match will be broadcast on ESPNU and will take place 30 minutes following the conclusion of the 10 a.m. CT Nebraska-Oregon match.
