At Houston Oaks, Baylor is seeded #6 and beat Texas (3) in the first round of competition yesterday 3-1-2. Bears did not play in the afternoon session (Pool Play, each pool has 5 teams so 1 team in each pool is idle each round, Baylor is in Pool B), but are taking on Oklahoma (2) in this morning's session. The Sooners hold a 3-2-1 lead through the first three holes.

It's supposed to be based on the combined Golfweek/Sagarin and Golfstat rankings. I am not sure if they are using last year's numbers though, since Golfstat doesn't come out with their first ranking until next Wednesday (10/17). If you use average scoring to par for this season so far, Baylor would be ranked next-to-last in the conference at +3.17 (Kansas State is last at +4.40). Six schools are averaging under par, led by Oklahoma State at -7.67 per round.

BU beat UT already, so they own the tiebreaker and have locked the pool win. In Pool A, Oklahoma State (1) and Kansas (4) are tied with 7 points each, and are playing each other in the final round, with Kansas leading 3-1-2 through 1 to 3 holes.

And it looks like they might be playing KU this afternoon.

We have cleared the pool and locked up the win over Kansas State. 4-0-2 with 3 wins and a tie in the books, A/S after 16 & 17 in the other two. We'll play either OSU or Kansas in the championship. Kansas leads OSU 3-2-1 with 4 matches still in play.

Kansas choked the 18th and the match with #1 OSU ended A/S. Not sure what the tiebreaker will be, whether extra holes or a scorecard playoff. BU awaits.
