"Although Prism, in their language, doesn't say they're affirming, I do think that Prism is a step in the right direction," Gonzalez said.

The right direction being to move to affirming and then celebration....

Baylor Regents are endlessly disappointing.

We didn't even get any money for selling our institutional soul.

Heck this won't even get us any positive news coverage...just the usually characters saying "Baylor should have been more progressive along time ago"

So this is what the Board of Regents got us? No surprise they screwed up again!

BU should kick them all out of school. Ridiculous that we should have to put up with this bull**** at a private Christian college.

If they kicked out all the kids who engage in sexual immorality, there wouldn't be many left.

Or do you really think, like old Jack Fields, that you don't have to ask a Baylor girl if she's a virgin? You know she is. LOL.

Abner read the room as well as anyone and was progressive for his day.

You would probably have go back to Pat Neff, who lamented that the state did away with public hangings.

He sounds like more your kind of prez!

It's actually not a positive move.

It's a cowardly move to grovel before progressives cultural power in the modern USA.

It's a betrayal of our moral values and Christian faith.

It's a betrayal of the generations of faithful students and faculty who have tried to live by the Christian sexual ethic.

It's a betrayal of the kids on campus right now struggling to remain faithful to that rightly ordered sexual ethic.

It signals to the world that Baylor is willing to bend the knee to Babylon.

And it tells students on campus right now, who are paying 4 times the price of a public state school, that they are suckers for thinking Baylor is different...that it is a place that will protect them, support them, and stand with them against a radical & disordered view of human sexuality.

Why no recognition of those committing adultery? Would that hot too close to home for some of the regents?

Why no recognition for those bearing false witness? Would it disproportionately hit finance majors and those in law school?

What other ways of the world can we embrace? I guess TCU was ahead of the curve and BU is chasing them.

The Church always is the most authentically Christian when it is not beholden to the Culture. It would have been great for Baylor's response to be "your identity is not where you put your pecker."

This is so disappointing and so uncalled for. One of the things many of us have loved and respected about BU through the years has been its willingness to consistently and openly stand up as an institution for Christian morale values in a world that is and has been on a steady march away from those values for going on six decades now. To see the university being agreeable to even start down the path of accepting/condoning behaviors and lifestyles that the Bible clearly labels as sin in an attempt to appease the purveyors of the ongoing cultural rot that grips our nation and our world is discouraging and disheartening to say the least. I really thought we were still better than this. So sad to see we apparently aren't.

My daughter just got her ACT scores back. That combined with her honors classes, and stellar GPA mean that she is automatically accepted at Baylor... her first choice.

Now... maybe not so much. One of her other options is John Brown University in rural Arkansas. It is very far from home, and no where close to the name recognition as BU.... but it is still a CHRISTIAN education, and not some watered down BS.

This is probably going to be the final straw for her.

I'm very sad that my university has gone down this road. It leads to absolute hell, and there is nothing redeeming about it.

I only hope that this Trans bull**** will implode upon itself, before my other kids hit college age.

Honest question: Do you think there is any chance that people will wake up and realize just how destructive this trans crap is? People are ruining their bodies and their lives over some depression and feelings of confusion. This has gotten out of control.

From JBU it is just a short walk across the state line to the Cherokee casino and smoke shop. Whacky tobaccy is legal on both sides of the line and Siloam has its share of fruits walking about. Nearby Gayetteville is awash with freaky living.

Baylor is still her best option, IMO.

Waco, TX -
Baylor University has officially chartered Prism, an LGBTQ+ student organization.

Matt Burchett, who serves as both Baylor's Dean of Philanthropic Engagement and Senior Director of Student Activities, said that Prism's charter supports Baylor's mission by creating a caring community grounded in its Christian commitment, leading toward acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community on campus.

When questioned as to how an LGBTQ organization's mission would square with 1 Corinthians chapter 6, Burchett calmly replied, "Nice try, but we all know that letter was written to the Corinthian church nearly 2000 years ago, not to the students of Baylor University. Stop being a bigot. Baylor has standards to uphold regarding diversity and inclusion. Besides, I was a Phi Chi here, so I know a thing or two about being gay at Baylor."

A rainbow flag was hoisted in Marrs McLean Gym to celebrate the occasion.

Rufus Burleson rolled over in his grave (again).

Neither George W. Truett nor Pat Neff could be reached for comment.

Judge Baylor's statue was as silent as ever, as the celebratory pride parade passed.

Burchett was asked what he thought Judge Baylor would say. "Look, he's just lucky his statue is still here. Believe me, he really doesn't want to push it."

It appears the Bible-beaters and Christian leaders at Baylor University have all gone on to glory.

Maybe they were right. Maybe this world is not our home.

Let me clarify my position on this particular issue. I'm not down with any formal LBTQ or whatever it is called, at Baylor. It's a little much for me. BU is a private school and can roll anyway they want. Hey, lets not kid ourselves. When I got to BU in the mid 80's, hell, I thought half of the guys were gay as a parade. (I'm looking at you KOTs). Gay folks are abundant at BU, but we need not roll over. We need to be compassionate, but not sell out the farm. Absurd homophobic comments by Mr. Growel Towel and just not helpful. Hope that makes sense.

Guess what? We're here and we're not going anywhere. We're not freaks. We're people. The sooner you learn to accept tolerance and equality the better. LGBTQ are Christians too. And your hateful message is more out of line with the teachings of Jesus then Baylor deciding to not discriminate against LGBTQ people will ever be.
