I love it when people ask about my kids. My daughter is older than you and my two sons are pushing 40. I have a charge nurse at a large hospital in Austin, a teacher in SLC Dallas and a Michigan law school grad and attorney in California. All three are happily married with great healthy kids and satisfying careers.

I raised them as a single father. I have 7 grandkids. My daughter married a Mexican (the only guy she ever dated that I liked), My oldest son married a ginger (she is a dr with her own clinic in Dallas) and my baby married a Japanese girl he met in law school. They both practiced law for awhile but decided they wanted kids. She is a stay at home mother with a Michigan law degree. All three make more money than I ever did.

I raised them to be strong independent and self sufficient. All three paid for their education with scholarships and part time work. They all know i would do anything for them but are too proud to ever ask. .

I see the grandkids ever summer and at Christmas. We talked about the two oldest grandsons flying out to Playa for a week but I think their mothers decided to wait till they are 14 next year.

However, if I see something that I believe to be wrong or evil, I will speak truth, as scripture commands. I think therein lies the main difference between us. I am surprised I didnt meet you at any of the tailgates or meals we had at Georges, Ninfas and Viteks. At one time I had met about half the active posters.. Congrats on keeping the same name. I dont understand people that change every couple of months and pretend they are new.

You, like so many before you, have confused judgment with discernment. Judgment or condemnation of a person, as used in the verse you reference, is much different from discerning truth from error. Saying an idea or practice is sinful is not judging your brother. It's not putting yourself above someone else as some sort of king of the spiritual mountain. That's judgment. Judgment is believing that you are better or more holy than someone else because you don't struggle with the same sins. That is what Christ was referring to in those verses.

Christ does not call us to sit silently in a culture that glorifies sin. Instead, he calls us to be salt and light to a dying world. He calls us to speak truth in love. Scripture is very clear on this point.

Graduated Baylor in '97. I lived in the LA area during the early years of Baylorfans, working at Warner Bros. Heard about it from a friend, and was one of the very early members. I remember when you joined after me. We used to agree a lot more than we do now. Mothra is the only name I've ever gone by. As a 23-year-old, I thought it was funny.

Wokeism is a real thing, but can someone explain to me how this is woke? And if this is woke, what is so bad about it? The girl isn't attractive to me, but if this is woke, this type of "wokeness" isn't what bothers me. The type of "wokeness" I disagree with is the type that tries to silence those that disagree with those that are woke. Ironically, this thread comes off as people trying to silence others that they disagree with.

The health at any size movement was gaining momentum there for a while. Since corona came through and killed off a lot of fat people hopefully a lot of those that were buying into HAES have seen the light. It's fine to be sednetary if you choose that but just realize that being overweight is worse than smoking. It requires discipline to be healthy these days and putting large women on sports illustrated is not setting a good example. Put some crossfit chicks on there.

This is "woke" because there is only 1 reason that SI puts this person on the cover... to try and protect themselves from cancel culture. This cover won't sell on it's own, but some might buy it for "virtue signaling" points.

It is "woke" because it is capitulation to the woke crowd.
I don't want to silence anyone, but the fact that I do not find her attractive is enough for people to say that I should be silenced and my opinions are "toxic". If someone wants to buy the magazine and find this attractive... fine. I really don't care. But I'm not going to give into pressure, and start lying by saying that this is the new standard of "beauty". This is a totally manufactured standard of beauty.... and it isn't actually what the average man finds as attractive.

The cover is basically a forced lie.

Seriously, for as much as we hear about boomers talking about snowflakes and safe spaces, this entire thread wreaks of old men needing a safe space because of a picture of an overweight woman.
