Did you have any trouble finding the story? There was page after page after page after page on google. I dont watch tv much. Maybe it was missing there.
I was unaware of the shooter at Love Field until I read this thread .

The basic premise that a white male shooter would have generated more media coverage is undeniable .

And with your superior intellect you are certainly aware of the double standard involved .

My only question is why does it amuse you so much to play this same game ?

Maybe you should watch or read CNN.

Dallas airport accused shooter has lengthy criminal record, claimed to be Chris Brown's wife, 'God's prophet'

This was the headline on Fox News.

Its a crazy woman shooting the roof at a regional airport. IMO it got way more coverage than it deserves. There was video coverage of the woman, the officers, the woman getting shot. The discussed the womans past, her mental illness, her claim to be married to James I Feel good Brown. They had multiple pics of her. They talked about everything except how easy it is for a crazy woman with a history to get a gun and ammo.

I'm sure Fox did run with the story. The other outlets - don't remember seeing this covered on the front page.

Your point is you think you get to decide how news agencies present the news. A crazy woman at a regional airport with a gun doesnt interest as many people as the abortion issue.

You have some strange desire to live in a world where everyone prioritizes and thinks like you and act offended when you find over and over again most people dont.

Fox News caters to people like you. So now you are upset the rest of the world doesnt cater to you? You need to see the world. Its a huge place.

black woman dallas airport has 98 hits with vids. Google her name and get tens of thousands of stories.

Seriously, how much coverage do you want? Its not hidden. If she had acutally shot at someone there would have been more. News outlsets put out what sells. Money. More people are stirred up about abortion right now than a crazy woman at a regional airport..

I'm glad you're good with Google searches. Unfortunately you entirely missed my point. And of course is not surprising.

This thread is for white men to vent their outrage at a black woman. (14 words, count em.)

And there it is. I'm surprised it took you so long.

Me. This thread began about race and gender. I'm playing YOUR game. Own it.

Take race and gender out and this thread doesn't exist. The thousands of stories covering it would, but there would still be the need for your offense to be expressed. And so it is.

Yup you. I knew the obligatory "white fragility" post would soon be forthcoming. You're as predictable as a sunrise.

There is a difference between a story about it and the story being top of the page/ front page/ lead story on the news for days on end.

So the complaint isnt that nobody could find it. nobody could read it, it didnt generate 58000 mentions around the world, it wasnt covered by major news media (Fox ABC CBS CNN ) and with videos, interviews and pictures.
This isnt enough.

The location of the story is the rub. lol

If you were running a newspaper, newscast radio news, would you lead with the stuff most of your audience cared about or a minor incident in a small regional airport that resulted in no deths, no nnocent people being shot etc etc? People on both sides of the abortion issue are still stirred up. The baby killers are pissed off for losing the ability to control their bodies and the rightous holy people are celebrating a victory. Now thats news. A crazy black lady in Dallas that thinks she is married to James Brown? Not so much.

Isnt that what you are upset about? It was covered but not given as much priority as you want.

Thats a fact Jack.

You do seem to get upset when someone doesnt act the way you want them to act. Some you call fools and some you just respectfully disagree. When I say "seem" is means its my opinion. You do get in a fuss.

This is not really that complex. I am not in favor generally of nationalizing local stories, but the authoritarian media regularly nationalizes minor local stories to promote and agenda and feed red meat to the crazies. Every time a white cop shoots an armed black criminal it is a national news.

A woman attempting to shoot up an airport is newsworthy. Much more newsworthy than many of the other nationalized, local stories. I was curious why this obviously newsworthy story seemed to be largely downplayed in favor of the usual red-meat content. I think it shows the media has really fully moved from journalism to partisan propaganda.

Happy to. My point was not that I should get to decide how news agencies present the news. That's what we would call a "lie." And despite your apropos choice of username, I think you're smart enough to know that was a deliberate mischaracterization of my point.

My point was that there is disproportionate coverage of an event that, despite no deaths, resulted in the shut down of one of the major airports in the U.S. and numerous flight cancellations and delays, which is of course a major news story in and of itself. And yet, it somehow didn't make the front page of most of the major internet outlets.

Anyone paying attention knows that the media - especially the last few years - has a history of devoting a disproportionate amount of coverage to news stories based on race. Hell, just yesterday, Yahoo News ran with a story at the top of its news feed about a police force in a small NC town that resigned because of the hiring of a black city manager. https://news.yahoo.com/north-carolina-police-force-resigns-142000212.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall. Incredibly, despite presenting no evidence whatsoever that the police officers resigned because of the color of the new city manager's skin (indeed, further digging revealed that they resigned because of the city manager's derogatory public statements about police, among other things), Yahoo was all too happy to attribute the resignations to the fact the new city manager was black. This is what passes for journalism today.

Yet, somehow Yahoo, among other outlets, ran with this story on their front pages, while failing to mention anything about the Love Field shooting which had a major effect on flights throughout the U.S. And let's be honest - a shooting inside an airport is a pretty big news item regardless of whether someone got killed. Yet, you're just not willing to acknowledge the double standard, and would rather pretend it doesn't exist. That is a prime example of your intellectual dishonesty - an inability to admit even the obvious.

As for our discussions, you once again seem to lack the self-awareness to understand the difference between yourself and someone like Canada. You're an admitted troll who likes to post inflammatory things about conservatives to "balance" the board. It's an odd pastime, but so be it. Obviously, responses to your incendiary posts are going to be quite a bit different than they would be to someone who is not a troll and is willing to have an intellectually honest discussion.

Fair enough. We disagree on the importance of the incident. Love Field is ranked as a "medium" hub, not a major airport as someone said earlier.

I know the news is not balanced. My younger brother counts the number of blacks compared to whites in commercials. He gripes and moans and claims minorities are over represented. He is right. The difference is it upsets him and I could care less. The news does make a bigger deal out of some issues than others., I can think of two reasons this may be happening:

Either the network owners have studied stats and think coverage of abortion issues attracts more readers and advertisers so, because they are commercial ventures, they feature info they think most people want to read. They are trying to make monry. Hurray for capitalism

Or the major news networks are in cahoots with George Soros and thr Clinton mafia and only present news they think will further the agenda the evil democratic empire.

Personally I say its a money issue but who knows? Maybe the news agencies (excpet Fox of course) dont care about money and commercialism.

If it was simply about capitalism, we would have more FOX news competitors. It consistently has had the most number of viewers. And yet, it has no major competitor. That's not because of "capitalism," as you so naively put it.

Given that Fox is by far the most lucrative of the networks, you would be correct in thinking the major outlets care more about ideology than money. Saw a great piece on journalism degrees by Brit Hume examining the ways in which it's taught today. He cited a statistic that approx. 98% of those teaching it nowdays identify as either Democrat or liberal. According to Brit, when he was in school, it was roughly split down the middle. So yes, what our kids being taught undoubtedly has an effect on what they believe and how they report. It would be foolish to think otherwise.

As for FOX, even as a non-conservative, you really can't see an issue with having just one news outlet that doesn't have a more balanced or conservative slant? You see no issue with the media being heavily weighted toward a liberal worldview? I would think that would be alarming for anyone in favor of independent journalism. I guess I shouldn't find your lack of concern odd, since you don't seem to care about much of anything, but it's strange how flippant you are about issues.

Personally, I don't watch FOX or any of the American networks. My main source of news is the BBC. They still have some semblance of independent journalism you can't find in the States.

Not caring about issues is not the same as love of freedom. I would bet I am much more in favor of freedom than yourself, given your positions on subjects. You want new federal laws on immigration, want a federal law on abortion apparently, think special rules should apply to social media outlets, etc. Those are not a libertarian viewpoint, but more of a Democrat mindset than anything.

You are not a troll because you bring up alternative solutions. You are a troll because you start threads and make incendiary posts aimed at conservatives and conservative issues, apparently just to get a rise out of people. That's a troll.

Or maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle - the networks are run by liberals who want to put a liberal slant on their reporting, and the news items they focus on.

This would mean the owners care more about idealogy than money. Its ironic but I have found the more money a man makes the more he cares about making more. My little brother makes 3 or 4 times more than I do and he has built his life around making more. Conversly I have enough and dont really worry about it.

If it was simply about capitalism, we would have more FOX news competitors. It consistently has had the most number of viewers. And yet, it has no major competitor. That's not because of "capitalism," as you so naively put it.

If FOX has the most vieweres why are you and others so upset? You already have the most, do you need all to conform?

BTW, you taking a laissez faire approach to things is nothing new. You don't seem to care much about anything unless it directly affects you.

Very few topics directly effect me. Abortion? No. None of my 3 children were planned so after the 3rd I stopped believing anyone and took care of birth control myself. Nowadays in my 60's I think i have the reproduction problems solved. Abortion doesnt effect me but if it was an issue I would certainly urge the woman to have it. I just dont think it should be forced on her.

?? News coverage? I get my news right here. Doc is my fav. source. I havent owned a TV in years, dont listen to the radio and most of the places I live I cant read the papers.

Immigration? As a humn i believe people should be treated with respect and dignity. I dont hire anyone any more. I have urgered immigration reform. I dont believe in open borders. I dont think I am better than anyone else based on where I was born. I believe in private property.

You mistake a laissez faire approach to my love for freedom. We need social rules and laws. I believe in America as the home of the free, not the home that incarcerates the greatest % of its population in the world..

For legal age purposes, I understand why you would call an 18-year-old woman an adult, but seriously.

What does my main source of news have to do with whether this story was for the most part overlooked? What an odd line of reasoning.

I've never said or suggested we should force companies to broadcast anything. I said that I hold a libertarian position on social media - that the tax exemptions and liability exemptions they receive should be done away with, and they should be treated like every other company. That is a decidedly libertarian position. You're the one who wants special treatment for large social media conglomerates.

You are not a libertarian. You support big federal laws and special rules for companies. That is not pro-freedom, despite whatever you've deceived yourself into believing you are.

Now granted, maybe he's just blissfully ignorant like many and chooses to not be informed. Or maybe it is intentional disinformation.

Assuming good intent, for you guys that believe the Russia Hoax was real and Juicy Smalls is a victim, Dallas Love Field is an international Airport larger than St. Louis, San Jose, Kansas City, San Antonio, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Memphis to name a few.

If you're going to have stupid opinions at least be informed.

Yup. It's the 29th busiest airport in the United States, and the HUB of Southwest Airlines, hardly some small "regional" airport that LIQR wants to make it. But downplaying its size helps his disingenuous narrative.

The part of this thread that is the most telling and endemic of today's disinformation tactics. Notice how one poster continues to refer to the "Dallas regional airport." Now granted, maybe he's just blissfully ignorant like many and chooses to not be informed.

Your link classifies it as a medium sized hub airport It is less than half the size of the smallest large hub airport (Washington Dulles) It is by far the smaller of the two DFW airports, 96% of its flights are Southwest Airlines Are there any international flights?

i was wrong. I should have used the word "medium" instead of "regional".

Our vibrations were getting nasty. But why? I was puzzled, frustrated... Had we deteriorated to the level of dumb beasts?

So what? It's the 29th busiest airport in the United States.

But yeah, the story is not newsworthy.

I agree. I flew out of it recently on my way to Seattle I believe.

My point was if the shooting would have happened in a bigger airport maybe it would have gotten the attenrtion some think it desrved.

Either you were there or you read about it in the news. If you owned your own news agency you could be the one that ranks what should and should not be stressed. If only the world would listen to you and start doing things right.
