Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton neck-and-neck with Democratic challenger in new poll
The embattled incumbent leads Rochelle Garza by two percentage points, the tightest margin of any statewide contest.

AUSTIN Attorney General Ken Paxton and his Democratic challenger, Rochelle Garza, are neck and neck in a new poll, a sign the embattled incumbent is vulnerable in November.

Paxton leads Garza 34%-32% among registered voters the tightest margin of any statewide contest, according to Dallas Morning News-University of Texas at Tyler poll released Sunday.

Well, there you go..

Note that the spread between Abbott and Beto went up when accounting for people that were likely to vote vs just registered voters

Didnt see where they accounted for that with Paxton

Not a surprise. With the mass invasion of Texas by Californians, it's only a matter of time. We have three that have moved to our street in the past two years. We are friends with two of the families and they disclosed the cost of living drove them away.

And then of course they both have Beto signs in their yards, supporting the exact same policies that made their former state unlivable. Incredible how little people learn from their mistakes.

This is a dilemma of epic proportions!

Beto has no coattails, which is the only way anyone down ballot of governor will win that isn't an incumbent.

There aren't going to be many Abbott voters voting of Rochelle Garza.

What's all the more shocking is the quality of candidate the Dems are running - former ACLU attorney who had her own law practice in Brownsville for a brief period. Not exactly high accolades. Interestingly enough, I had a case against Garza a number of years ago (before she joined the ACLU) in a case down in the valley, and she remains to this day one of the most incompetent attorneys I have ever been up against. It is disconcerting to think of her as AG.

It's all headline clickbait, no Democrat is coming within five points of winning state wide office in Texas yet again.

And even 538 projects Beto likely to lose by double digits, which doesn't bode well for anyone down ticket from him.

Majority of People are either voting for Paxton or against Paxton.

And those margins aren't big enough to matter.

A double digit Beto loss does not translate in to a Garza win, math isn't there.

Lol You have friends with Beto signs in their yard? Dont you call them silly little names because they dont vote like you think they should? Have you told them they are the reason for everything thats wrong in America?

Just wondering if your online persona matches real life. Now I know.

I have lots of friends and friendly acquaintances who don't feel or believe the same way as I do. We have respectful disagreements over policy, though we usually don't discuss them to maintain the friendship. In fact, I suspect our California friends don't know where we stand on the political spectrum. My gay friend, who was a groomsman at my wedding, likewise knows where I stand on his lifestyle. We can respectfully disagree on his lifestyle choices. I guess your surprise shows just how wrong your judgment of me has been.

I don't call anyone silly names for not voting or thinking like I do. If someone is respectful toward me on this board, I will likewise be respectful toward him/her, even if we disagree. Booray is a perfect example of that on this board. We diverge significantly in both our political beliefs and in our religious beliefs, but have always maintained a modicum of civility in our discussions. He is generally respectful in all of our conversations, and an intellectually honest poster.

My ire is generally directed toward jerks, liars, trolls and ****-stirrers who purposefully post incendiary comments and personal attacks about others' beliefs in order to anger or get a rise out of people - posters who for some sick reason feel the need to "balance" the board with their emotional, bull**** generalizations. If they're disgusting, dirty old men who take advantage of younger women, that certainly doesn't engender any goodwill either.

You may not like him, but Paxton received a JD from University of Virginia, a top ten law school, and did so well there that he earned a job at Strasburger & Price, L.L.P. - which back in the day was one of the most prestigious law firms in the country.

Uh, not really. Strasburger was always a lightly regarded firm. Some decent guys, but no world beaters. UVA is impressive, which makes you wonder why he ended up at Starsburger.

My biggest issue with Ken is his sleazy actions towards his handpicked staff and extramarital affairs and on and on. He's a bad guy.

We all have a 'special' prism with which we see ourselves .

On the internet.......many see themselves as a brilliant 'white knight' vainly attempting to educate ...or at least corral in.... the terminally crazy .

However I suspect the women in our lives have a far more accurate analysis of each of us !
