Oh yeah - Trump is like Mussolini and his supporters are like the black shirts, right? What with all the political enemies he and his supporters have persecuted, imprisoned, and executed and all. Next thing you know, he and all those wacked out MAGA crazies will be advocating the invasion of other sovereign countries and the persecution of "undesirables".

Man what a dumb post.
They're off to a good start after invading the Capitol.
not even the worst capital "invasion" in modern history. Lergest by number of people, not the most violent.

1915: Angry at the unofficial support the U.S. was providing Britain in World War I, Erich Muenter, a former professor of German at Harvard University, sets off a bomb in an empty Senate chamber.

1954: Four Puerto Rican nationalists enter the House chamber and fire on lawmakers from the visitors gallery. Five congressmen are injured.

1971: The left-wing Weather Underground detonates a bomb in a Senate men's room, after telephoning a 30-minute warning to the Capitol switchboard.

1983: A bomb explodes in a Senate corridor, after a warning phone call. Six members of the Resistance Conspiracy, which opposed U.S. actions in Grenada and Lebanon, later are arrested for a bombing campaign against government buildings.

1998: A gunman breaches a Capitol security checkpoint and kills two police officers, Jacob Chestnut Jr. and Detective John Gibson.

Apples to oranges.
whatever makes you feel better

Pelosi called it democracy in action when they stormed the Wisconsin state capital.

Why is she upset over January 6? It's just democracy in action..

Because a sitting POTUS called to the mob & continues to do so
That is a bald-faced lie. You are perceiving the world as you need it to be in order to comport with your feelings about one person you detest. In fairness, you are far from alone in that.....

It is , in fact, a lie........an unnecessary lie.

Trump's behavior was disgusting after his 2020 election loss.
So disgusting he should never again hold public office......by the will of the people . Not by the will of Trump's political opponents .

But he did not call for an 'insurrection '.......which by the way ......is not remotely an accurate description of what occurred on January 6th .
I would only quibble with the word "disgusting." In no way was his behavior was any more disgusting than what we've seen from the other side of aisle, thus in context was clearly within the bounds of acceptable political behavior we have traditionally tolerated.

To the degree that conservatives expect more from their own.........it's still no cause to start making stuff up just to virtue posture to fit media narratives.

We cannot continue to indulge ourselves in the vanity that we are better, too good, to play like the other side. (along with #5, #6, #8, #10.)

Real weakness .....is to lose .

Nominating Trump loses the general election .

DeSantis has a better than odds on opportunity to win .

Winning results in the power necessary to correct the abuses we have all witnessed the last 18 months.

Republicans. conservatives and Christians need to be focused on the ultimate objective.
Polling doesn't show that right now. It doesn't show Trump losing the general. It shows him ahead of the two most likely nominees of the opposing party, to include majority numbers in some key swing states.

Neither does it show DeSantis having better odds. It shows, consistently, that DeSantis runs several points behind Trump, nationally in and in several swing states.

Not saying your assessment is crazy or anything. Just that it's at odds with available data. So i AM focused on the ultimate objective. Show me some polling. Show me some granular analysis of coalitions and issues, etc.....and I'm all ears.

I LIKE DeSantis, touted him here early on as a rising star. I would be hard pressed to argue that he would not be a more effective POTUS for the conservative cause than Trump. But it is abundantly clear that, at the moment, he is a weaker candidate that Trump. That's why I think you will see a Trump/DeSantis ticket in 2024. It would be a very, very good one, the best chance we have to unite the party without risking the Trump coalition.
Polling this early on is almost meaningless as many potential voters surveyed choose based primarily on name recognition .

Can't believe DeSantis would be dumb enough to take 2nd chair to Trump after witnessing Trump's behavior to Pence and various cabinet members.

Of course if one believes Biden got over 81 million votes in 2020 one would have to accept the possibility that any Dem nominee will get at least 90 million votes ( or whatever number required ) and 'win' in 2024.

Porto is supporting grooming POLICY and the candidates that push it. Its a yuuuge difference.

To say you support every sin a candidate/politician has made in their life if you vote for them is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. We'd all be 'supporting' a whole lot of stuff we dont actually support. His point is just plain stupid. But its all he's got to relax his conscience about supporting grooming policies and candidates. Sick-o.
Wow, this site has more posters than I think is reasonable, who will take your point, pretend it's their own, and use it to attack you. Is this some infantile attempt to troll me? lol

My God, but you are a dumbass! Sam thought he'd try to be clever and change the speaker. That doesn't work from democrat to republican, because democrats are all so bat chit crazy. No Republican would have delivered a Fascist speech like this. Fascism is socialism. Only a democrat could say the chit Biden said. You lot are lunatics.

Omg calm down. Trump said many of these things.
All of Trump's neo-facist speeches are very similar in tone to Mussolini's.

Which is exactly what many of those convicted for their Jan 6 crimes have said: I was following the orders of my president.

And also "Why didn't he pardon me??"
