Do the authors of the Baylor Mag think we're incapable of grasping how the university raises funds?

This Baylor Mag looks like the Crazy version of Ladies Home Journal.

When donors give to a university and require the money to be used for a specific purpose, Regents are spectators. They can accept the money. Or they can return the money.

Besides Not Defending the University from a PR onslaught at the hands of ESPN, what have the Regents been doing?

And Regents, the Fudge family didn't give the money to you, they gave it to the University. Tell us about them.

I guess someone has to sign the checks and approve the money transfers. Maybe Standard Accounting Procedures and bylaws have something to do with this.

I miss having an independent alumni association. Sad.

Very true. But restricted gifts are still ...restricted. If I give it for a building and limit the purpose, all they do is release the funds. There are starting to be more lawsuits with donors asking for gifts to be returned.

Not sure why the press release would try to make it sound like the Regents gave the money or earned it. Or that they had the ability to not approve of using the money while still keeping it. While it's certainly possible, it's very, very unlikely. It's rare that gifts are given with no restrictions.

Which begs the question, did the Highers family want their money used for a building or the general fund? Somehow the AD that was fired had to take credit and...well, don't print that in the Baylor magazine.

Approved? It just ran through the Baylor checking account.

Sad indeed. These people will print anything if they think they can get away with it.

All the independent alumni association had to do was point a flashlight at the truth.

That also was in a day when Baylor's leadership and Regents/Trustees respected givers more than the use of the gifts. New day, right here in River City!

well put.

They're trying to cloak themselves in shiny objects and fake accomplishments to create the appearance of control...

Gonna sit this one out. Because of the Baylor BOR's actions from May 2015 and beyond, I no longer have any skin in this game.
