Trump claims violence he inspired on Jan. 6 was Pence's fault
The former president suggested the riot could have been avoided if his vice president had cooperated in overturning the results.

DAVENPORT, Iowa Donald Trump on Monday sharply rebuked Mike Pence's assertion that history would hold him accountable for the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, telling reporters that his former vice president should shoulder the blame for the violent riot that day by Trump's supporters.
"Had he sent the votes back to the legislatures, they wouldn't have had a problem with Jan. 6, so in many ways you can blame him for Jan. 6," the former president said, referring to Pence's refusal to reject the electoral college votes in Congress as Trump wanted him to do that day. "Had he sent them back to Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, the states, I believe, number one, you would have had a different outcome. But I also believe you wouldn't have had 'Jan. 6' as we call it."

Yeah, the dimcrat alternative is sooooo much better. Who doesn't want high inflation, high energy prices, plummeting 401K's & investment portfolios, an open out of control border, absolute clowns in charge who are there only because of race, gender, sexual preference, gender confusion, etc., foreign policy that has us at the brink of WWIII, and a POTUS who is owned by China.

Mean tweets and occasional insults are soooo much worse. I can't believe more people can't see that.

In the past I've likened Trump to slash and burn agriculture. After years of poor showings, uninspired voters, and milquetoast candidates, the republican party was in need of a shake up. Trump came in and burned it all down for a term and taught republicans how to stand up for themselves and fight back. He fully exposed biased media and the drastic shift of the Overton Window that was taking place right under the noses of many Americans who just weren't paying close enough attention. IMO, he provided a much needed reset.

But now he has played his part and it's time to move on with more serious politicians who bring both the fight and the political savvy to the table. You don't scorch the field every year. You do it once so you can plant and reap the benefit of the enriched soil for the next 10. I believe 75% of the party understands this and is fully ready to move on from Trump. It's the other 25% that make up his hardcore base who have the chance to play spoiler.

Everything Biden has touched has been a catastrophe: inflation and the economy, supply chain and transportation, Afghanistan, etc. You name it, it's been bad. The ONLY way republicans can screw this up and manage to lose to these incompetent buffoons is by running someone as polarizing at Trump.

DeSantis brings all the pros of Trump without all the horrendous cons. That's why the democrats are terrified of him. As far as I'm concerned, the more Trump opens his mouth and says stupid stuff, the better.

No one is saying that Biden is good. Least of all me. And I certainly wouldn't argue that conservatives are somehow the only people in the electorate who aren't allowed to pick the best of bad choices. I'll let David French die on that stupid hill.

But the Trump we're seeing now seems about 33% more unhinged than he was before. And we know he can't and won't let go of the "I was cheated" bit. So in doing the "what's worse" math, Trump has worsened himself measurably in the eyes of a lot of voters. In my mind, enough to say that he doesn't really stand a chance in the general election. So the question for me is, re-nominate a guy who is likely going to get destroyed, and thereby ensure 4 more years of the moronic, self-destructive, self-loathing Biden administration, or pick someone who can win.

If DeSantis is the nominee (the only possible GOP candidate that has a prayer of taking Trump down - at least as of today) I'm on board and will enthusiastically support him. If he's not, however, it's clear who is the only alternative to end the current willful destruction of the country and the multiple disasters that are in progress as a result - and that's Trump. I therefore don't see the point of joining in with the left and the never Trumpers in attacking Trump primarily over his style and the fact that he's not a talking out of both sides of his mouth DC swamp creature (which believe it or not is still attractive to a lot of people). At worst, it's analogous to a proven, qualified surgeon that has an abrasive bedside manner and may talk to you in blunt terms, but will save your life with his skills versus a wholly incompetent surgeon that says things you enjoy hearing - before he kills you on the operating table. To me, if that's what your option is, the choice is easy and attacking the skillful surgeon over his style makes no sense at all.

Time to move on from the Granny and Grandpa selfie fest at the Capitol on January 6th. We have much more dire and dangerous problems occupying the White House.

The house is burning down, man!!!! Wake up and get out.

Clown country.
