Rod Dreher:
[Arkansas governor Hutchinson is displaying the usual Republican lapdog-of-Big-Business instinct. In 2015, he didn't have the guts to stand up to Walmart when the woke capitalist behemoth, which is headquartered in Arkansas, asked him to veto the state version of the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which would have extended modest religious liberty protections under state law, as the 1993 RFRA had done under federal law. Hutchinson did Walmart's bidding, like a good normie Republican, but he also lacked the courage to do a full veto; instead,
he just refused to sign it, and the bill died. A week or two earlier, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence backtracked on Indiana's RFRA after the woke capitalist mob came down on his head.
Both men are running for president now. Neither man deserves your vote. We know that in the end, when the pressure is on, that they will stand with Big Business. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know if Ron DeSantis's strategy against Disney is legally sound. He might lose. But I am extremely impressed that he had the guts to take on Florida's largest employer, and tell it to stay in its damned lane when it comes to legislation that would protect Florida schoolchildren from being propagandized for gender ideology. Hutchinson, Pence, and Nikki Haley all three of whom are running for president have all come out against DeSantis for opposing Disney. This is revealing. If Woke Capitalism ordered them all to jump, they would bleat, "How high?"]
