The House plunged further into chaos after Republicans voted to drop Representative Jim Jordan as their nominee for the speakership. Jordan on Friday was unable once again to win over opponents who have denied him this week.
Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio lost an internal vote to continue as his party's nominee for speaker on Friday, plunging the House into further uncertainty and sending Republicans searching for a new leader.
The vote came hours after Mr. Jordan failed for a third time to win election as House speaker, leaving his party with no consensus on a way forward and the chamber paralyzed in the face of growing pressure to get back to business.

I disagree. You guys are acting like the GOP has a 100 chair majority and can impose its will. The GOP has 4 chair majority and in practical terms doesn't have a working majority to even pass majority votes. Now is not the time for a Jordan type Speaker. Now is a time for a reach across the aisle Speaker.

Milquetoast? Or, just don't do anything, shut it down. Don't approve a budget, default on debt, don't approve any promotions, just shut it down for how long??? 14 months? It is a guarantee GOP will win, Red Wave? Like 2022... How long until 5 or 10 break ranks?

I am concerned the Dems will not compromise on spending cuts. It is time for the Repubs to hold fast and insist on cuts other wise the cuts will not do any good.

This makes us look so bad in the world. Greatest nation? Hah! Our Congress is paralyzed by essentially 8-10 bomb throwers.

The only way we're going to be able to get out of this is for Republicans and Democrats to team up to elect a Republican speaker who is sane.

You sure reach some interesting conclusions. We are going on a couple of weeks without a house speaker and got rid of a guy who was pretty dreadful and you're acting like it's the end of the world. The govt is under threat to shut down for a few days and it becomes 14 months . You sure are a chicken little.

The sky isn't falling because a weakling and speaker who had numerous special interest groups supporting him has been voted out. That's called democracy. It's how things work. They'll find a replacement eventually and no doubt it will be another weakling that will compromise on trillion dollar spending packages while at the same time continuing to support a proxy war in Ukraine.

How does GOP Speaker dictate agenda with a 4 seat majority. One that does not stick together. How do they get anything done without, compromising? If they compromise they are selling out, right?? Milquetoast? Or, just don't do anything, shut it down. Don't approve a budget, default on debt, don't approve any promotions, just shut it down for how long??? 14 months? It is a guarantee GOP will win, Red Wave? Like 2022... How long until 5 or 10 break ranks?

You sure reach some interesting conclusions. We are going on a couple of weeks without a house speaker and got rid of a guy who was pretty dreadful and you're acting like it's the end of the world. The govt is under threat to shut down for a few days and it becomes 14 months . You sure are a chicken little.

The sky isn't falling because a weakling and speaker who had numerous special interest groups supporting him has been voted out. That's called democracy. It's how things work. They'll find a replacement eventually and no doubt it will be another weakling that will compromise on trillion dollar spending packages while at the same time continuing to support a proxy war in Ukraine.

Geez, have you ever been in a budget meeting? It is not about backbone, it is about what you can and can't get done. GOP doesn't have the juice to do what you want.

Keep going with this path of Jordan like nominees, you will see the Dems win the gavel. They just need 5. We are about to see another first all because of unreasonable GOP who are more interested in making idealist stands than Governing. US needs Governing now not hold your breath tantrums.

People have no idea what Trump, Ryan and McConnell squandered when the GOP had all levers and did nothing. They could have passed it all. Now, MCarthy got what he could, he knows how to play the game. He's gone and there doesn't seem to be any adults left in the room.
