Pastor Shot in the Head While Preaching the Gospel on Arizona Street Corner

A Christian pastor, husband and father was shot in the head Wednesday evening while preaching the Gospel on a street corner in Glendale, Arizona.

According to reports, Hans Schmidt, a 26-year-old veteran, was standing on the northwest corner of 51st and Peoria Avenues with a megaphone preaching when a person pulled out a gun and shot him in the head.
Schmidt is currently hospitalized and clinging to life.

According to an eye witness, people driving by were screaming and cursing at the preacher before he was shot.

Speaking to the people driving by send coursing, i wonder what the guy was blasting out of his megaphone? MSN Street corner types are downright hateful and have nothing to do with Christianity.

Still, shooting the guy seems a bit much. I'm sure the idiot will be brought to justice.

Yeah like the sort of thing you think about doing, then don't do. Like that last slice of pizza, or that text you peck out to your ex at 3am.

No doubt you would feel the same way if it was a BLM member with the megaphone.

Yeah the wording is the thing to focus on here, good job, brought up BLM, political hack checkmark.

I wonder if the media would talk more about this attack if the victim had been a rabbi or imam?

White Christian pastor just doesn't have the same political value does it? But don't worry, a lot of white Christians will use this as an example of their victimization. "See, even in America we are persecuted and killed for proclaiming the gospel on the street!"

I don't think a lot of White Christians in America will even hear about it so I would not worry about that…

I would probably never have heard about this story if I did not see it on here.

But you always have interesting takes…a Pastor is shot in the head (probably end up dead) for preaching the gospel in public…and yet you are worried if this is going to fuel a "victimization" complex among American Christians

You vastly underestimate people's ability to find reasons to victimize themselves.

And what other take is there? I said it is wrong, I wonder what the guy was actually saying, and I look forward to a man's death being used as political fuel.

Our vibrations were getting nasty. But why? I was puzzled, frustrated... Had we deteriorated to the level of dumb beasts?

People hear "street preacher" and get a specific image in their head.

Usually , the image of a street preacher is someone yelling "the end is near", "you're going to hell", "repent". Seldom is it an image of someone like Jeff Durbin, Ray Comfort or Cliffe Knechtle that try to start a dialogue. Porteoso being a prime example

Telling people that sin is wrong is received as "hate" by some people. Stephen was stoned for the truth and the Gospel. He was so decent that the world did not deserve him.

John Wesley is the father of street preachers, though I imagine he would be inclined to pull many aside and urge them to get theological training.

Many Methodists might be surprised to learn this.

And there are all kinds of people who have used a megaphone, too...

I assume people trying to start a dialogue don't do it with a megaphone. Is that normal where you are?

Hmm. While I have had that last slice pizza, I am not sure shooting someone in the head is something I've ever been tempted with but to each his own.

Ray Comfort, depending on where he is at, does this same thing with a sound system.

I'm not a theologian nor a pubic speaker but, these uneducated eyes and ears have lead me to believe THIS IS A DIALOGUE

I get pretty loud and don't need a megaphone. A dialogue on the street is not only possible, but is more likely, when you raise the volume.

We don't know why he was shot. It could be because he was preaching or it could be because he lives in America where people get randomly shot all the time.

Not looking great for his family.

"More details of Schmidt's condition were provided in a church update on Thursday. "Hans was taken to the ER where they discovered he had been shot after conducting a CT scan," the update said. "He began seizing and was intubated. There has been some movement; however, physician's [sic] are uncertain how much is voluntary and began draining fluid from his brain. He remains in critical condition, please continue praying."

From the Go Fund Me: "So far they are saying it's inoperable."
