Laying off everyone. Looks like SI is done for.

SI going other has nothing to do with their swimsuit issue. It never got any traction as an online publication. Very few publications can survive without that.
The desire to blame everything on "leftist socialists" and "wokism" is just bizarre. If anything. SI's death is just a market economy at work.

And Bud Light's market share drop was not due to the transexual.

I said not everything is the result of culture differences. That is different than saying nothing is the result of culture differences.
Try logic.

You're losing it. You used to try to make sense. I do want to know whatever you tribal zealots decide on for a theme song. I'm imagining something that fits in the new Barbie movie.
There is also a new Pfizer Covid vaccine commercial out. Megan Rapinoe and Travis Kelce really want us all to get that next Covid shot!Jack Bauer said:

I remember the first time my little brother found my PB stash under my bed. My mother had a "talk" about the evils of lust and nakeness. The sesond time my father whipped my ass but didnt really seem that angry.. Neither effotrt had much impact exept for using plastic bags and and the tools shed in the bagyard.RD2WINAGNBEAR86 said:Gone are the days when a kid used to hide his Playboys and Penthouses under the bed.Frank Galvin said:

Irony is tribal zealots is exactly what killed Sports Illustrated and is killing Disney. Irony is people like me having tribalism projected upon for the desire to not have tribalism injected into everything. But this is the pattern just like the left constantly starting Culture Wars and then claiming conservatives are obsessed with Culture Wars and "pouncing." Self-awareness is helpful.
Many want to read about sports or go to a movie without having to suffer the affirmations of emotional, illogical, left-wing tribal nut jobs. Once things like Sports Illustrated decided creating safe spaces for fringe idiots was more important than sports reporting, the rational people went elsewhere.

It might not be the SOLE reason but it is conencted.
Their problem started 20+ years ago as people started getting more sports from online sources and ESPN started doing more than just sportscenter.
As those sources started doing more of the type of stories that SI used to do their subscribers dropped.
Then as they started going political/woke it kept dropping doing stories on people not connected to sports, social issues, etc.
but if you look at charts of their number of subscribers there has been a rapid decline since they started putting plus size models on the cover and an even sharper decline since they have gone full woke the last 5 years.
So again it is not the only reason but it is one of the several that killed it.
Larger story: The cash on hand that Amazon, Apple and Netflix have, and can spend on rights fees, should scare the hell out of Disney.
— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) January 23, 2024
Because, given the way ESPN’s programming has gone recently, losing live rights could very well be the end of ESPN. https://t.co/0q9exs8fOp
I would not mind ESPN losing their monopoly over many of the sports, especially college football, and how they have really driven the narrative in that sport (and they have in terms of rankings, awards, etc.).boognish_bear said:

Can anyone site even one example of a corporation or business entity that went woke and it demonstrably improved their market share or business? Shoot - how about one example where it didn't severely damage them at best?
