Any word on what the swimsuit models are going to do? If you could get me their names, phone numbers, etc, I would try to help them out.

When they put out the tran-ny, fat old swimsuit edition, I knew it was done for.

Is there anything democrat socialists don't destroy? It really is comical. They are 0 fer humanity

Yet some welcome their oppression and failure with open arms.

What a loser mentality. Sad

Go Woke Go Broke.

99% of readers want to escape and enjoy sports and not have sports used for woke social engineering.

SI going other has nothing to do with their swimsuit issue. It never got any traction as an online publication. Very few publications can survive without that.

The desire to blame everything on "leftist socialists" and "wokism" is just bizarre. If anything. SI's death is just a market economy at work.

Gone are the days when a kid used to hide his Playboys and Penthouses under the bed.

I long for the days when one had to pay for porn and water was free.

And Bud Light's market share drop was not due to the transexual.

You're projecting again.

Irony is tribal zealots is exactly what killed Sports Illustrated and is killing Disney. Irony is people like me having tribalism projected upon for the desire to not have tribalism injected into everything. But this is the pattern just like the left constantly starting Culture Wars and then claiming conservatives are obsessed with Culture Wars and "pouncing." Self-awareness is helpful.

Many want to read about sports or go to a movie without having to suffer the affirmations of emotional, illogical, left-wing tribal nut jobs. Once things like Sports Illustrated decided creating safe spaces for fringe idiots was more important than sports reporting, the rational people went elsewhere.

I remember the first time my little brother found my PB stash under my bed. My mother had a "talk" about the evils of lust and nakeness. The sesond time my father whipped my ass but didnt really seem that angry.. Neither effotrt had much impact exept for using plastic bags and and the tools shed in the bagyard.

'I Just Don't Know Where We Went Wrong,' Contemplates Sports Illustrated Executive In Front Of Framed Covers Of Obese, Trans Swimsuit Models

NEW YORK, NY After sending a company-wide email to notify all of its staff that they were being laid off, a top executive at iconic publication Sports Illustrated contemplated how things turned out so wrong as he stood in front of framed covers of obese and trans swimsuit models.

"I just don't know where things went south," said Jack Weber. "Did we not get woke enough? Should we have featured trans models even earlier? Was the heavy woman we put on the cover not heavy enough? What was it? Maybe we should've given more consideration to plastering the Pride flag on our cover back in June. I was certain we signaled the appropriate amount of virtue for every possible cause and movement out there. It just makes no sense."

The magazine, long seen as the authoritative source for all sports news, finally cut loose all its workforce after realizing no one was reading the publication anymore. "This really threw us for a loop," Weber said. "We had so many big things planned to turn things around. A salute to Caitlyn Jenner. Naming Lia Thomas our Female Athlete of the Year. We were even in negotiations to have Lizzo as a special celebrity cover model for the swimsuit issue this year. Now, all of that will be lost."

At publishing time, Sports Illustrated announced it had found a new solution to its problems by hiring an entirely new staff that would be the most diverse and inclusive in the history of sports news publications.

Claiming it has nothing to do is wrong.

It might not be the SOLE reason but it is conencted.

Their problem started 20+ years ago as people started getting more sports from online sources and ESPN started doing more than just sportscenter.

As those sources started doing more of the type of stories that SI used to do their subscribers dropped.

Then as they started going political/woke it kept dropping doing stories on people not connected to sports, social issues, etc.

but if you look at charts of their number of subscribers there has been a rapid decline since they started putting plus size models on the cover and an even sharper decline since they have gone full woke the last 5 years.

So again it is not the only reason but it is one of the several that killed it.

Can anyone site even one example of a corporation or business entity that went woke and it demonstrably improved their market share or business? Shoot - how about one example where it didn't severely damage them at best?

What ever happened to finding writers like Dan Jenkins, Bud Shrake and Frank Deford? They even had Rick Reilly who had his woke back page commentary, which was interesting before the whole rag became that way.

It's all been gone a long time, but I miss it.

I would not mind ESPN losing their monopoly over many of the sports, especially college football, and how they have really driven the narrative in that sport (and they have in terms of rankings, awards, etc.).

What I don't want to see is having to have a subscription or premium subscription to multiple different services just to watch games or not have the ability to just turn on a game as a casual fan.

For example, this fall I had sling to watch college football but had to watch some of our games on ESPN plus which meant getting that extra just for that and our reception for local channels was horrible to non existent so we were often not able to watch ABC, CBS, or Fox for those games since they are not on sling (or most other streaming providers).

I love being able to turn on college football games Tuesday through Saturday. I know I am not typical in that but I don't care that it is two MAC teams on tuesday that are not very good. To me it is football so I watch it but I won't do that if each conference is on a different streaming service unless it is on the ones I already have and don't have to get a premium package or add on.
