"A 25-year-old member of the United States Air Force self-immolated in front of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC, yelling "Free Palestine!" according to reports.

The airman, identified as Aaron Bushnell, broadcasted his entire self-immolation on the streaming site Twitch.

In the minutes before his self-immolation, he says in the video, "My name is Aaron Bushnell, I am an active-duty member of the United States Air Force and I will no longer be complicit in genocide," according to Newsweek.

"I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest, but compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it's not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal," he adds.

A blurred video, posted on X, shows Bushnell dousing himself with liquid and then igniting himself into flames, screaming, "Free Palestine!" before simply screaming and falling to the ground.
Voices of police and other first responders could be heard yelling for Bushnell to get "on the ground," and calling for fire extinguishers.

Bushnell lies on the ground burning as the officers finally get a hold of extinguishers and use them on his smoldering body...

...Another friend named "Xylem" who worked with Bushnell to support the homeless in San Antonio, where he was allegedly stationed, told the reporter, "He is one of the most principled comrades [interesting word choice] I've ever known."

The reporter later posted, "I've just received word that Aaron Bushnell succumbed to his injuries."
According to a news blog, another alleged friend from San Antonio who worked with Bushnell on helping the "unhoused," Bushnell "did incredible work here in San Antonio for various mutual aid and unhoused coalitions. He spent every penny and second he had on serving his community…And living his anarchist principles in action."...

...He had served in the Air Force for three years and 10 months, according to his profile."

Do you neocons know what time it is yet?

My God, no. IMAGINE WHAT HE HAS SEEN TO GET TO THIS POINT. This video includes his explanation as to why he did what he did. If you do not want to witness the event, itself, then stop the video before 1:40. https://rumble.com/v4fujvi-aaron-bushnell-sets-himself-on-fire.html

And severely misguided, and most likely mentally ill.

I'll never understand why that little country on the other side of the world inspires such fanaticism.

How much could he have seen being stationed in San Antonio, TX and working as a software engineer for three years? Do they usually send IT experts from the Air Force as ground troops into Palestine? He helps the hungry and homeless in San Antonio - that made him go halfway across the globe and kill himself in a horrible way for Palestinians? He is originally from liberal Massachusetts. He supported anarchist groups that were pro-Hamas. What he said before immolating himself was the same parroted talking points from the left. Nothing there that would suggest personal experience.

There's a certain spirit that caused him to do what he did - sacrificing humans by fire is what the evil idolatrous Israelites did in the OT (they put their own children in fire), and it incurred the wrath of God. It's probably the same spirit.

My point was not that he was one, but to point out that this isn't 1985 and Reagan isn't president. Macron is talking about putting NATO ground troops in Ukraine. That will guarantee the start of a third world war. We need to quit foreign adventurism and fix our country.

Seems as though to me he was crazier than a s h I t house rat!!! If only all terrorist acts had such a desirable outcome. Nobody hurt. Nobody killed except the extremist. Would be nice if a whole bunch of these anti-Semitic / save Gaza extremists follow his lead.

This "young man" was a danger to the public. He obviously had zero compassion for the more than 1,400 Israelis (mostly women and children) that were murdered on October 7th. We are just fortunate that he didn't take anyone with him.

The homeless now have one less advocate. Setting yourself on fire or blowing yourself up may be acceptable and sometimes even admired in the Middle East but it is not here. In the U.S., we cherish life,- not waste it.

This kid obviously had many more problems than the "suffering" of Gaza. Too bad nobody noticed and he was not able to get the mental health treatment he needed.

The man simply became overwrought about what he perceived to be horrific injustice to the women and children in Gaza.

Serving in the Air Force at this juncture in his life probably added to the pressure.

Very possible. It's also possible he was just a radical leftist loon. We may never know, but I know where I'd put my money. And FWIW, he worked in software and was trying to find a job in the private sector.

He was motivated by the George Floyd killing to become anti-military. Despite the fact that a white man (Tony Timpa) was killed in nearly the exact same way one year prior, and yet there was no reaction from him. His heart bleeds for the injustice to Palestinians, but not to the Israelites who were murdered by them. Clearly, his gates of justice swing in only one particular direction. Sombear would get a tidy sum from his bet, because all signs point to leftist loon.

You're (weirdly) defending a guy who is clearly an unbalanced, possibly possessed, leftist anarchist lunatic who just killed himself by lighting himself on fire.....and I'M the fanatic? You obviously have a distorted sense of truth, and that's probably the main reason you are so put off by my arguments with others.

There is nothing in this thread by me that was smug or arrogant. If I speak what I believe is true, then I'm confident in that truth. You choose to perceive that as you will. I will try my best to move on, knowing that I've lost your readership. Ironically, though, nothing is more smug and arrogant than broadcasting that you're putting someone on "ignore" and signing off with your name in quotes. But alas, que sera, sera.

Not one of your better posts my friend .

You might want to look up this young man's bio.
This "young man" was a danger to the public. He obviously had zero compassion for the more than 1,400 Israelis (mostly women and children) that were murdered on October 7th. We are just fortunate that he didn't take anyone with him.

Don't be stubborn.

Read his bio.

The guy was no terrorist.

No but he was an interesting combination of radical socialist and anarchist. Still my heart breaks for the guy.

The man simply became overwrought about what he perceived to be horrific injustice to the women and children in Gaza.

Serving in the Air Force at this juncture in his life probably added to the pressure.

Sad business all way round .
We are all so perfect within the comfy confines of this message board.

The man sacrificed himself for what he believed in.

Though I do not agree with his message or his incredibly painful suicide…….

I respect that he intentionally spared others.

May God forgive and keep him.
The man was a modern bolshevik brainwashed by radical dogma.

My friend if the fella was a true Bolshevik he would have killed others along with himself.

Horrible way to die.

Seems as though he was a good and compassionate man.

May God grant him peace.
Seems as though to me he was crazier than a s h I t house rat!!! If only all terrorist acts had such a desirable outcome. Nobody hurt. Nobody killed except the extremist. Would be nice if a whole bunch of these anti-Semitic / save Gaza extremists follow his lead.

So, a failed Bolshevik, then ...
That which does not kill me, will try again and get nastier

The guy made the ultimate sacrifice in the most painful way possible .

One can argue against his narrative and certainly against his method of protest……….

But he clearly wasn't out to hurt anyone else.

Meanwhile the US continues to spend billions of dollars it doesn't actually possess perpetrating two separate wars .

Time for a cease fire in Ukraine and Gaza.

As too many innocent people have already been slaughtered in both regions.
