If someone claims to be a mailbox... do you really need a medical journal to inform you that they are suffering from some form of mental illness? If so, then YOU are suffering from a mental illness.Waco1947 said:"We are instead talking about people who suffer from a mental illness or mental disorder that makes them think they are the opposite sex, or some such."Mothra said:We aren't talking about the less than .01% of the population born with both genitalia. That is indeed a biological condition.Waco1947 said:Ambiguous genitalia is a rare condition in which an infant's external genitals don't appear to be clearly either male or female. In a baby with ambiguous genitalia, the genitals may be incompletely developed or the baby may have characteristics of both sexes. The external sex organs may not match the internal sex organs or genetic sex.Mothra said:There is nothing to prove or disprove. Social constructs are made up terms. They are not based on science or biology, but instead societal norms.(The sciences of Psychiatry and the biological birth of children with ambiguous sex organs disagree)Waco1947 said:
Not true. They are not made up words but social constructs to understand sexuality. You have not proved these social constructs. All you said was assertion without proof.
Ambiguous genitalia isn't a disease, it's a disorder of sex development. Usually, ambiguous genitalia is obvious at or shortly after birth, and it can be very distressing for families. Your medical team will look for the cause of ambiguous genitalia and provide information and counseling that can help guide decisions about your baby's gender and any necessary treatment. Mayo clinic
Social constructs are made up. Always have been. They are based on societal pressures and norms. They have nothing to do with biology or science.
Show me the medical journal that says it's mental illness or disorder
If someone claims to be something that they CLEARLY are not... then that person has some form of mental illness or mental disorder. No one on the planet requires a medical journal to recognize the obvious.
Do you need a medical journal to tell the difference between your thumb and your big toe? That is how stupid your requirement for a medical journal is, in this situation.
