I assumed so ... I mean that's crazy even for Canadian Castro.

Is that some sort of Indian garb? Is he married to an Indian lady? About the only way I can accept this. Also wow I am living under a rock, had no idea.

What are your expectations of your new Prime Minister ?

Can any single individual restore Britain's former greatness ?

They have a massive majority. I suspect they will run the economy in to the ground with haste.

I also never thought I would see Sinn Fein as a legitimate party in Northern Ireland.

When I see Labour Party in UK I think socialism but apparently the new PM has rejected socialism and is described as center/left.

We will soon know his true leanings center or left, for better or worse.

Something like that would have been plastered all over conservative media if it were true. The fact that it wasn't should have been your first clue.

It was entertaining, though. Even if not as entertaining as the Scotland video of apologies.

for those who missed it...

The Greens and the Lib Dems are the real far left parties.

Their economy has real issues. I wasn't making a joke.

I honestly dont know, all i know is that the Conservatives have run our country to the ground and the only reasons they won the last election were running on a Pro-Brexit stance and the broadly right wing media had vilified the opposition leader so badly they had made him basically unelectable.

Leaving the EU was pointless and has damaged our economy badly, whilst i dont expect we will rejoin the EU (though we really should) we certainly need to find a way to restore some of the pillars of British society, starting with making sure the NHS is properly funded

the Lib Dems arent far-left, if anything they are more central than the Labour Party, they even formed a coalition (which ruined them ) with the Conservatives in the early 2000's

the 2 main political parties (Labour and Conservatives) are both fairly central, Labour are centre to centre-left, Conservatives are Centre-Right.

Labour certainly has members that are socialists and a recent Leader (Jeremy Corbyn) was one of them, but by and large, Labour has made a concerted effort to remain more central for the last 30 years or so.

I suppose that's relative to what you consider center but that's your government so I'll defer. Personally, I would say the parties, other than Labour and Conservative, don't really matter all that much.

What will be interesting to me to watch is what happens in heavily minority areas as they start to vote for MPs that represent them; especially the large Muslim communities. Could have some pretty serious impact on British politics in the next 2-3 decades.

Eventually, in a best case scenario Britain will end up in the same place as Argentina and turn to someone like Farage to fix it. Not sure how many lost generations it will take before it happens. In a worst case scenario, the great replacement will come to its fulfillment and it will become an Islamic Republic. Some 40 years separated my first and second trips to England. The place was almost unrecognizable.

by and large, sure, noone other than Labour or tory will ever be the Majority party in england (at least not any time soon, 100 years ago, the Liberal democrats were bigger than Labour) but if enough people become disenfranchised, the other parties can take votes away from them. Look at the votes for the Reform party in this election, those votes wouldnt have led to the Tories winning, but would have made things a lot tighter
