They wont go with Shapiro, even though it would be smart, because he's jewish and their party has a real antisemitism problem. Beshear in KY is a rising star in the Dem party. Picking him is problematic for two reasons, 1) you'd hate to burn his chance on what is likely a losing ticket hitched to awful Kamala, and 2) Kentucky likely flips back red without his leadership. I think Mayor Pete is a really smart guy and he's well spoken, but his star has faded as the transportation secretary and he lacks experience. Whtimer might also be warry to hitch herself to Kamala's wagon and an all female ticket is a crap shoot as we've never seen one to know how it will fare nationally. Kamala and Newsome are both from California which creates the same problems a Trump Rubio ticket was going to face. Mark Kelly might be the wisest choice.

All that to say, who knows what direction they'll go. No matter what Kamala wants, the Democrat party directs all these moves with an iron fist. If they pick somebody weak, it'll will tell me they think they don't have much of a chance and don't want to burn a strong player's reputation on the ticket.
