It just boggles my mind that coaches, athletic directors, principals, super intendents, school board members, and interscholastic league officials can all be this insanely counter-factual just because they're afraid of peoples' perceptions of them.
If you are going to allow this to happen, there is no reason to have girls' sports.

17'6" would not have won most of the jr. hi meets I was in. 18-19' was needed for one year, while 20' or more was needed the next. I could only get at best 17' then, so I did not compete in the long jump.

If i remember correctly, Texas used to have the "panty test" if there was any question of gender. It was 99.999% correct, but modesty prevailed and the best method was dumped and hormones were used.

Track and field is the perfect sport to highlight the problem of men competition the women's category. Ever single world record in track and field for women is an average result for men. Most women's world record would not even place at the Olympics or just a random track meet.
