Obviously Trump did not receive the message from the Supreme Court that it is Congress that has the ability to levy taxes, not the Executive branch. So his reaction is to raise tariffs across the board? Not sure the Supreme Court is in the mood for a pissing contest.

Trump's greatest blunder on trade was him using tariffs as a means to raise revenue, mostly paid by American companies. I don't think he really gives a **** who the tax burden falls on. He does not live in the real world.

I am a little sad I won't be receiving my $2,000 Tariff Stimulus check.

Good God Almighty fella ..,, are you ever going to stop with your incessant whining ?

You chose to retire early. Mean ol Trump had nothing to do with it. Keep in mind you live better than 98% of the world's population.

So grab a shotgun, and go kill a dozen jack rabbits and enjoy another beautiful day above ground.

This whole thing reminds me of how "...to the shores of Tripoli" became part of the Marines' Hymn. Something about an American president doing something in the absence of congressional approval.

Obviously I have once again said something that has hurt your feelings. I am sorry.

Have been retired for five years now. My only regret is I didn't do it sooner. For the record, it was Joe Biden and the working world after Covid that convinced me to retire. Trump had nothing to do with it. Once again, please accept my apology. I will make more of an effort to attack Trump on policy, - not personality.

For the record, I was just kidding about the Tariff Stimulus check. I figure we will receive them right after we no longer have to pay taxes on Social Security.

And jackrabbits aren't my varmint of choice. The meat is much too tough.
Call it a tax, the people are outraged! Call it a tariff, the people get out their checkbooks and wave their American flags!!!

Personal record was 60 jack rabbits in one of our alfalfa fields adjacent to some sand hill ground.

Figured I had the right to kill them since was inadvertently feeding the *******s. Never ate rabbit.

Once killed 14 dove with one shotgun blast in my commodity barn, as they feasted on a pile of rolled corn. Gave them to the livestock extension agent who said it couldn't be done.

18 pigeons with one shot along a fence line, was my personal best.

Gave them to my Mexicans……and was always a good reminder for them on who was the better shot.

I have heard $300 billion. $230 billion. $140 billion.

Just another example how deeply corrupt our government has become. A few $billion here. A few $billion there! But who's counting? I fear that these days most of our tax dollars are lost to fraud. Not really anything any of us can do about it at this point. Nobody is held accountable. For anything.

My 6th grade teacher was the greatest I ever had, and this from one who has 2 Master's.

He came in from lunch one day and went straight to the blackboard. Picked up chalk and wrote:

"9 out of 10 doctors recommend medication X."

Turned around and asked us how that could be both true and deceptive. We were stumped.

Erased everything but "9 out of."

Wrote: ..."every 10 doctors recommend medication X." Said: "Now it means something."

Started into the standard lesson, whatever it was....

That moment has guided my thinking the rest of my life.

Back to the point I have been saying (and getting crushed on by MAGA), we are talking an election. It doesn't matter if it is correct. The majority of voters think that Trump's tariffs have made things more expensive.

You can argue how stupid they are, how they are wrong, how it is plot against Donald. IT DOES NOT MATTER. The messaging coming from the White House is bad. Leavitt hurts more than helps. Oh, she gets good shots in that MAGA chuckle. But she also insults people that reach millions of voters. Each vote counts, no matter how stupid. With ID or not, if you piss them off AND they think you are making things more expensive they will not vote for you.

See the ICE situation. Homan gets it. If Homan is the most press savvy in the group, they are in deep trouble. That is not his strong suit...

I am not attacking Donald, we are going to get Biden 2 if he doesn't start getting the messaging right. No matter how good the policies, if the execution is horrible it is a problem.

Now tell me I am ranting and let the discrediting begin...

I am not trying to diminish it. Just saying they are hurting themselves in the messaging, if there are positives they are not getting to who needs to hear it or they are being overwhelmed by how they are doing it. So, it can be true there are benefits, but it doesn't matter if the public doesn't know it or believe it.

The question is, did the tariffs increase the costs of goods, in some cases dramatically, and did those costs get passed on to consumers. The answer to that is yes.

Again, if that assertion was correct, it would be reflected in higher inflation in 2025.

It was not.

Ignoring the data does not bolster your case.

I suppose you could run with the idea that the Fed's numbers are fabricated and Shadowstats is correct if you wish.

If you had actually read what I linked, you would see why your assumption is incorrect. Again, inflation was likely almost .6 higher because of the tariffs than it would have been without tariffs. Moreover, as pointed out in the articles, you apparently didn't read, inflation is just one narrow indicator of the repercussions of tariffs. You also have to look at job numbers and trade deficits. So while you're hyper focused only on inflation, as I tried to explain to you in the previous post, that doesn't tell the full story.

If anybody's ignoring the data, it's you.

When the accusation is circumventing the Constitution, after taking an oath to uphold it, it doesn't really matter who else is treasonous. Or who is hypocritical. Once you say that it's hypocritical to call out 1 party's treason but not the other's, you already lost.
