Honest question - what is the criteria to send hospital boats to other countries.

Greenland is not in crisis.

the criteria has little to do with crisis and everything to do with diplomacy. We are negotiating for a better deal than we currently have in Greenland. Showing the flag supports that.

truly odd the way neverTrumpers react to sound policy execution.

Because they have zero understanding of what constitutes sound policy execution.

They only know that within their particular social circle, it's safer to 'hate' Donald Trump.

Sound policy, that's funny.

This "sound policy" came from a discussion with the governor of Louisiana. Who has zip to do with naval hospital ships.

This "sound policy" is coal to Newcastle stupid.

And this "sound policy" pulls a hospital ship away from where it might actually be needed.

Assuming it ever left port. Tell me, where is it now?

Bizarre rambling…..finishing with an admission that you have no idea even where the ship is located.

Too much THC in the pot you are smoking.

Not healthy for a guy your age.

Might want to cut back.

Has it occurred to you that there are medical assets on that ship that are not available in Greenland, population 60K? How many 20k person towns the size of Nuuk (capital of Greenland) have an MRI machine? Think you can get a lithotripsy done anywhere in Greenland? Is even possible to get a dental implant in Nuuk?

Fact is, a large percentage of the health care practiced is via traveling "circuit doctors" who travel into small villages on a periodic basis.
Fact is, services on that hospital ship probably exceed the range and depth of the health care infrastructure on the entire island Greenland.

If your access to health care is a GP visit to your frozen little village every other week or so and the entirety of the medical equipment deployed on your behalf is carried in as checked baggage by the doctor, a hospital ship looks like Fort friggin Knox. "Denmark may have free health care, but USA has better health care." Greenlanders who need any kind of significant treatment have to fly to Denmark, but the USA can bring superior health care right to where you live. Pretty powerful statement.

Thank you for your reaction, though. It is such a great example of how neverTrumpism completely rots the brain of those infected with it.

So neither one of you: know what role the governor of Louisiana plays, where the ship is now, or why it wasn't positioned in the Gulf.

Hint both were in Alabama and one in dry dock

Not to beat a dead horse, but Greenland hasn't asked for, and doesn't want, TRUMP's boat. Forcing something unwanted on a people is some weird-ass diplomacy.

In Trump's defense, at least Greenland is over 18 years old.

Pulling a hospital ship into harbor isn't "forcing" anyone to do anything. It's merely sending an unmistakable statement that USA has a lot more to offer than Denmark ever will

You've got some spittle on your chin....

You sound like the sort of guy that shows up to parties to which you're not invited, convinced the party is better because you're there.

We aren't wanted.

And your ass is showing. Again.

telltale ad hominem to cover up your shortcomings on the subject material.

port calls are sometimes just for necessaries. More often, they are waiving the flag so those ashore can see it. And almost always both. That's what sending a hospital ship to Greenland was all about....."sure, you have socialized medicine, but it pales in comparison to this hospital ship. Would you like to have one of those based here?" it was a not-so-subtle "our unit is bigger than yours" exercise.

I just want to know if it will be used more than the hospital ship sent to NYC during the "deadly" evil Covid lockdowns.

You know the ones where hospitals were sooooo overcrowded and yet the hospital ship went unused as well as all the other military hospitals and medical units.

better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.......

Convincing rationale.

Agreed.
