If it comes down to JDV or GN, the choice is easy.
If they both have missteps then fine. But if they're equal on that plane, the vote goes to JDV.
As a Californian I have lived through numerous governors and this guy is by far the worst.
I, like his limousine liberal voters, can afford to live here despite all the drawbacks in taxes and regulations.
But that's the only thing I have in common with them.
I will admit that I pick no bone with GN over the housing costs. It is what it is. We have seen, for well over a half a century, transplants moving to California in droves. And that drives up housing costs.
Places like TX and FL are just now (or in very recent years) seeing that same phenomenon that CA has seen for three quarters of a century. When people are seeking to live in your state for political reasons (FL and TX), or weather, climate and beauty (CA), it drives prices up.
In fact, despite the fact that there are certainly a lot of people leaving the state, there are still those who just have to live here, and continue to move here. Our housing prices remain high. And the traffic is as bad as it has ever been. So I get how demand leads to higher real estate prices.
The problem is there are so many regulations and taxes here In CA that DON'T have to exist to the level that they are.
It's just leadership and state greed that keeps the tax money flowing. And you add to the fact that we're now seeing all the questions surrounding where exactly those monies are going. It's beyond ridiculous. It's disgusting.
Just because I may not always agree with what JDV says, or how he says it, I can guarantee you that as a Californian I agree with almost nothing GN says or does. Living political luxury in the conservative bastions that both FL and TX have become, it's easy to see the faults of DT, JDV, etc. Especially from the middle of the road vantage point.
But when you are surrounded by what this GN thing has done in CA, what DT and JDV speak to looks pretty good. Even to many of us Independents. I may not like the way they speak the message sometimes (especially DT), but I've seen the alternative. And it "ain't" good.
