Not intending for this to be political but there is more activity here…

I'm heading to San Jose next week from DFW Airport and wondered what the security lines have been like with the partial shutdown. I know circumstances will be different with a lot of spring break traffic next week. Anyone care to share?

No idea about the lines, but I can give you a different kind of line...

30% chance someone will post here to blame Obama
70% chance someone will blame Trump
200% chance Barbearian will blame the jews

I'll update you tomorrow. Are you pre-check?

This is what they are reporting, today.

DFW offers multiple checkpoints at key locations in each terminal. View wait times, read security tips and find more info on TSA PreCheck.

I've seen posts from DFW Airport suggesting you avoid going through security at D (the busiest) or C (under construction) and go instead at one of the other terminals, then take the train to whichever terminal your flight leaves from.

I traveled last year during the shutdown; DFW wasn't too bad since there are multiple small security checkpoints at each terminal. The bad ones would be the ones with only one or two large centralized security checkpoints (DEN, ATL, IAH, SLC, etc.).

If you're not checking in luggage, you can check in at any terminal, doesn't need to be at the main one. Sometimes it's quicker to check in at terminal B and take the skytrain than deal with D.

It is bad. Travel extensively for work and my estimate (from personal encounter/observation) is that line length has doubled at multiple entry airports and is 4-5x longer at single entry airports (except at small regional airports where the impact is basically nothing).

At DFW avoid Terminal D (mentioned above). Terminal B is also bad except the Southernmost entry station which I found to have almost no line. Haven't experienced Terminals A or C in current environment but have walked past and the traffic is very heavy. Especially the northern A station closest to the Lite Rail dump off point. That station looked insanely busy.

I flew out of Love two weeks ago and it was nothing. I have pre-check and wasn't checking a bag (two day trip). Oddly enough, that line was moving slower than the regular line though. It was still quick.

I'll be using DFW in a few months though, so definitely keeping an eye on the issue.

Lines last weekend were up to 3 hours. This work week has been normal - 15 to 20 minutes.

Here's my report from DFW. TSA precheck was 6 minutes. Regular under 10 minutes.

Because I'm touchless (sign up) I walked right through. They snap your pic with the camera. It asks, Al Queda yes or no. I'm not Al. Right through. No wait.

I flew into and out of the San Jose airport about two weeks ago. Basically no TSA line when I went, but it is a smaller airport so if there are issues there could be a major wait.

Thanks for the updates. I like the idea of going through a different terminal. Will definitely look at that.

Any updates heading into spring break week will be appreciated.

I travel a lot and have never understood why it is that the TSA ect has to go without pay. Just doesn't seem right. Those folks need a paycheck!

I've been looking at the DFW website with the page that monitors wait times at each TSA checkpoint. Today was good earlier morning but at about 11 am it started showing backups. Later this afternoon it showed minimal wait times.

Completely agree. The problem stems from Congress (both parties). The last on-time budget Congress passed was 1996 - for fiscal year 1997.

In Baylor time, that dates back to the last year of Chuck Reedy.

Agree. Coast Guard and HSA need to be part of military for funding.

Maybe moving ICE to a law enforcement function separate from Border, Coast Guard and TSA.

Are we having problems yet? Maybe we should solve our issues at home before invading Iran.

DHS funding problem is ridiculous. ICE has already implemented body cams. The demand to unmask them is just theatrics and stupid all mixed together. Funding should be happening. How far are the Democrats willing to go at the expense of US safety to make a point they can't win.

The actions of the Iranian regime to attack its neighbors with weapons they aren't supposed to have should wake up every western country that depends on the strait of Hormuz. Its safety has always been tenuous at best. It is too much leverage to allow a regime like Iran's to control.

This war will show just how bad a lot of western weaknesses have been. It could be and should be a serious wake up call for every country in Europe and tied to Europe - including the US.

Yeah when they fired a missile a couple thousand miles kinda neutered the Democrats whole narrative. Game over.

Well, funding of TSA, Coast Guard and Border Patrol (separate from ICE) should be automatic, like military. Separate funding silo and not part of these theatrics. The American people should not be put at risk over theatrics.

That said, I do not agree on ICE. ICE should not be included and should be open to scrutiny, as they are operating internally and literally hunting people. That is not the same.
