Liberals in the USA are a privileged and different breed. Including the younger generation.
Regardless of how one feels about DT or conservatives, liberals here are often very ignorant people with a distorted perception of how the real world works.
To them, socialism and communism are sexy. Hip. Edgy.
But not a one of them would last two seconds in any of those countries. And for some reason choose to ignore those who have fled those countries for the USA and reveal how bad it truly is.
Too blinded by their privileged arrogance.
Socialism should have been relegated to the dustbin of history a long time ago. Conservatives are the only ones keeping it alive, sad to say.
LOL.
Love how Sam accuses conservatives of all sorts of weird bull**** to try and trigger everyone.
His troll game needs improvement.
NYC just elected that nut job as mayor. AOC is always flapping her gums. As is Bernie. Not to mention many others. And they're all wealthy, no doubt from capitalist ventures. Or in the case of the mayor, mommy and daddy's capitalist realms. If the conservatives are bringing it up it's only because a very vocal group of libs are flapping their gums about it. It's all coming out of their mouths first. Don't put this on the conservatives.
NYC just elected a rock star of a mayor, and he's proving government can work for the people. I don't understand why people keep getting mad at the idea that honest elected officials can do good for the electorate. Instead, we keep voting for grifters, and they keep taking and telling us that that's the better way.
I appreciate a good troll job.
I especially like Mandami's ideas on a Soviet style grocery store. Those seem to work really well during its heyday.
Some ideas may not be successful. What has proven itself to be a failure is tax cuts for the top income earners and successful corporations in the hope that it will "trickle down" to the little guy.
States are not winning with the strategy of wooing corporations that utilize the infrastructure but don't pay for it. Texas is just putting that cost on our backs.
Good way to cause a mass exodus from NYC.
It always amazes me when people fall for repackaged socialism. I mean, we have an idea that's so bad it has literally bankrupted every country that has employed any true version of it, but somehow now it's going to be different in NYC.
Oy vey.
People come to New York. People leave New York. What you're missing is that people go there to make the salary they make. There's a reason why people aren't moving to Waco to become Traders and actors.
Trust me, New York isn't about to run short of ambitious people wanting to make it.
Businesses are leaving NYC in droves, and that's where the real tax revenue comes from.
https://komonews.com/news/nation-world/new-york-city-lost-nearly-5000-businesses-last-year-report-albany-mayor-zohran-mamdani-employers-low-tax-states-taxes-economic-conditions-economy-income-sales-property-unemployment
NYC already has one of the highest state and local income taxes in the U.S., and adding more to their tax burden is just a bridge too far for many businesses. And therein lies the problems with these kind of taxes. They never work.
The purpose of the government is not to make life easy for businesses at the expense of the rest of us. People were energized by Mamdani because he offered that the government would work for them, too.
Do you know how much the average business pays in taxes? Have you ever owned one?
I just always find it curious how there's this weird idea that businesses or those who make a lot aren't paying their fair share. I mean, if we do want to scrap capitalism in favor of a socialist model, I suppose we could do that, and not reward innovation. But haven't we tried that and failed miserably?
But what do you suggest then? How do we combat the wealth gap? Put a large tax on people, say, making over a million, and then distribute that to the poor?
