I am right that we can't know how many potential attacks were prevented. The United States Secret Service stops many threats before they ever become public, so the raw number of "attempts" against any president is inherently incomplete.but it doesn't necessarily mean one president was uniquely targeted more often. It may just reflect differences in reporting, definitions, or circumstances.
So when you ask, "does that make it any better?" From a risk standpoint, not really. A stopped plot and a near-executed attempt both indicate serious threat environments. The distinction matters for storytelling and headlines, but less for evaluating overall danger.

There is an obvious difference between disgruntled gunmen getting close to a President, and a suspected threat arrested in an apartment or home. There have not been this many close calls ever.
The only period of time that I could recall there being this much violence towards a President and potential presidents is in the 1960s. Possibly in the 1860s. I'm sure there were threats thwarted against Lincoln and others then. Neither of those times are ones that need emulating as far as violence is concerned.

To deny that there is a severe uptick in leftist violence is to bury one's head in the sand. Notice I said leftist. Not all leftists are happy with the Democrat party - though for all the wrong reasons. But that is their party of choice as it is closer to their ideology.
