Walgreens is closing a store on the south side of Chicago due to high crime/theft and the local community and politicians blame the store and even want to charge the store with "corporate abandonment" which is not a crime but of course none of them seem to blame the real issue.... the local community constantly stealing from the store causing it to lose money and the employees to feel unsafe. Not a single person gets up to talk about the issue of lack of community involvement in stopping the theft or how the culture looks down on those that "snitch" or try to stop the crime.

Instead of solving the issue they want to blame everyone else.....

When are you ready to meet me in Chicago?

Nice deflection.

Care to address the topic of the thread?

You have just done what these citizens and politician did.... blame someone else instead of addressing the issue.

I don't. Give me a date. Make sure Cubs are home.

Typical. No solutions. Can't address the topic because you haven't received talking points from your leftist overlords.

Discuss the topic or just skip the thread.

You started the thread. What's your solution?

My answer is to watch PCA and the first place Cubs.

You clearly don't pay attention on these boards.

Walgreens already provided the solution. Cut loses and leave that area.

As to the leftist politician he could back the police. Give them more money to hire more officers. Get a DA to charge criminals. Stop letting them out on low or no bail.

Change the culture where people aren't attacked for turning criminals in.

The solutions have been offered hundreds of times on numerous threads. But the left doesn't want those solutions.

Walgreen's solution is good enough for me. Why do you want me to provide a different one? I don't work at Walgreens and they are responsible for their profitability.

I wanted you to address the topic of the thread.

What insight do you think I can add?

Clearly you are incapable of providing any useful insights which is why you responded the way you did originally. Which is weird because you have all sorts of insights all over these boards when it is a politician on the right doing something. But the moment it is a politician on the left or an issue caused by the left suddenly you are "not concerned" or won't "vote for that person" or "not my city" or other lame excuse.

You're trying to Muslim me.

Chicago is my city. You don't like my response unless I go all WWE on the people to your satisfaction. I gave my opinion. I said I'm ok with Walgreens closing the stores.

I'm also gave you an invitation to an amazing world city that you know nothing about. Respectfully, you'd love it. Might even move there.

Free zoo that your kids would love. World class museums. Fireworks two nights a week and summer weather?

Did I mention the food?

I know plenty about Chicago.

More than you clearly to know it is not the most visited city s you claim.

I know it has high murder rates.

I know it has high crime rates that you don't care about. Nor do you want to discuss the culture that led to the closure of that one store in that one neighborhood.

But again you will post on other threads all day long with ideas, suggestions and attacks of groups on the right….

You know nothing about Chicago. Sad for you.

What city do you live in? Did you know Texas has significantly higher crime than Illinois? What's it about your culture? What aren't you addressing? More specifically, Houston (a fair comparison) has higher crime than Chicago.

The good thing about Texas is in its benevolence, it's willing to send its national guard to Chicago when you have lots of work to do.

You're trying to Muslim me. We can't do enough until we do it as you decided.

I know more than you. Like I knew that Chicago is not a top visited city in the world. Not even top 10. But you claimed it was number one and then when presented facts you just ignored that.

Chicago has a higher murder rate.

Sure Houston has its problems of small crime but nothing compared to Chicago.

But again you want to deflect from the conversation and have not once in this entire thread talked about it. I am not sure why you even came to this thread or chose to respond in this thread if you won't address the topic.

Address the topic or stfu

Data says otherwise on Houston.... Based on 20242025 data, Houston generally has a higher overall and violent crime rate per capita than Chicago, despite Chicago often having higher raw numbers of homicides. Houston has faced increasing violent crime, including high rates of aggravated assault, while Chicagothough still experiencing high violencehas lower rates in most categories per 100,000 residents

Cool story. Chicago still had more murders. Which is what I said.

You know more about Chicago than me? Based on your logic, I know more about your wife than you. (I probably do)

Tell me about your last visit. Hell, tell me about the last time you left Texas.

My personal image of you is that you are a fantastic young man. Don't let news agendas do this to you.

Well I have not made a claim about Chicago being the most visited city in the world, when it doesn't even crack the top 10. But you did.

News agendas do what to me? Highlight the hypocrisy of the left? Here we have a politician trying to call the actions of a company responding to high levels of crime at one of their stores criminal because they closed the store. But instead of the left (and you) addressing the issue they want to go after the company, or in your case deflect to any other topic but the crime of that neighborhood.

Again. Address the topic or stfu.

It is a crap hole city because of leadership. Plain and simple

left policies will/can destroy cities

How is it anything good about Texas is because the Republicans at the top but bad the Dems at the city. When does the state become responsible for all entities in the state? The state control all state funding.

It's an abdication of authority. Truth is republicans have rune the state for 40 years. They own underfunding of schools, crime, (gun violence) property taxes and all else good or bad.

My thoughts on Houston. It's one of my least favorite cities. Biggest issue is it's damn hot. They can't change that. Give me a simmer day in San Francisco or New York.

(I leave Chicago out as it's my favorite city in the world.) (and yes, I seen a whole lot of fantastic world and domestic cities).

States do not control local level decisions. That is why. It is really that easy.

Worth flagging the usual caveat: Chicago tops the absolute count largely because it's the country's third-largest city. On a per-capita basis it's nowhere near the worst St. Louis, Baltimore, New Orleans, and Memphis typically have homicide rates two to three times higher.

If that were the case shouldn't they be third with the top two populated cities being one and two?????
