How much can he do with just Executive Orders? Congress has to approve some of his actions here, correct? I am concerned he is going to sell us out...

As long as his family and buddies are covered, there has to be some overwatch.

Trump's potential $1 trillion China deal sparks backlash from Marjorie Taylor Greene, Laura Ingraham

It just gets harder and harder not to feel like a lot of this in hindsight will look more like a "Trump Family First" agenda rather than "America First."

What are you talking about?

Are you OldBear with a new name? I don't remember you for the last couple of years. You showed up recently, how about some disclosure, you an someone using a new name?

I am against both Parties, I don't see much difference between Biden and Trump, just who they cater to. Both Parties are the same. We need new Parties to have real competition. I would rather see a Parlimentary system than what we have now.

You forgot a name on your list. Someone who maintained a secret bank account in China and withdrew about $15m from it mere months after taking public office: Donald Trump.

Quote:

In 2017, the company reported an unusually large spike in revenue, some $17.5 million, more than the previous five years' combined. It was accompanied by a $15.1 million withdrawal by Mr. Trump from the company's capital account.

So, now China is in position to mediate. Does anyone see this as an elevation of China's status?

We used to mediate disputes between lesser Nations. This is success?

LOL! Your selective outrage here is laughable. The Trump family makes the Biden family look like small-time amateurs.
Call it a tax, the people are outraged! Call it a tariff, the people get out their checkbooks and wave their American flags!!!

I just laugh at him these days. Play the TACO trade lots and got my foot on the gas pumping as much as humanly possible. I really don't liking making $ of folks who are struggling. I'd much prefer a fair price around $70-$75, hence no $5 gasoline. Viva la Donnie!

If the goal is to make universities affordable, I suspect it will hurt as I'm assuming their tuition will be guaranteed by some org/gov

Yeah, but Americans pay until they die. Se are competing against Nation-States.

We will educate the world in engineering and tech and tell Americans to go be plumbers and welders. We will work for the Indians, Chinese, Japanese and Koreans over time.

Total number of STEM graduates in that country in 2020:
China: 3.57M graduates
India: 2.55M
U.S.: 820,000
Russia: 520,000
Indonesia: 200,000
Brazil: 238,000
Mexico: 221,000
France: 220,000
Germany: 216,000
Iran: 211,000
Japan: 192,000

I think higher ed is about to go through a huge transformation. Between AI and robotics, it has too.

Be quick to adapt

Be quick to find your niche

Always be forward looking

Other nations seem to do well at finding their niche. The US seems to do well at being forward looking and adapting.

As much as the world changes, people's needs and cultural traits tend to remain the same. Russians will always be rigid. Germans will always over design. Indians will always be low bidders and try to push a problem down the road. China will always copy rather than innovate. Old people will always overcook a good steak-sorry, that's a different rant.

I agree. It will change. Student Loans and how we distribute education is an old model. A model that is slowly putting us at a disadvantage.

I believe the change is that there are new infrastructure items, education and healthcare are the two big ones that are archaic and holding the US back. They have to be re-vamped.

Education boosts workforce. Healthcare keeps workforce productive. We are thinking about these items in the wrong way - as a commodity not as part of our infrstructure.

We have too many under educated/trained people in the US and tying it to a lifetime of payments is counterproductive.

Sure, this is not the popular view on this site. They will call them socialized or liberal, I think of them as from the perspective of production. Workers need to be trained and need to be able to be healthy. Not high bar, but not cheap bar either.

Curious to see where military goes in this changing world, when everyone can destroy everyone else, do we need to spend that much? How can we reallocate to create a modern workforce and a safe Nation without endenturing people in either education, health or both?
