El oso aka El loco is keep his fingers crossed
El Oso is, and has been for some years, one of the very best posters on this forum. He consistently brings a thoughtful perspective, and often something I'd never previously considered.
You, on the other hand, probably need your milk and cookies before bedtime. Whatever, I hope you find a new hobby.
Because you absolutely suck at this one.
While I don't find a ton of value in making it "personal," it am annoyed by those that struggle to make intellectual arguments outside of common talking points.
For example, El Oso posted how great it was for special education kids to be in normal classes. He posited that it not only improved the education of the special education kids but also the normal kids.
Of course, as usual I presented a simple question: if the above is true why should special education students not be placed in Advanced Placement classes?
If his claims are correct:
- Why are we denying AP kids the chance to have classes with special education students - assuming it is so valuable as he claims
- If being in normal classes improve the outcomes for special education and normal kids, putting then in AP classes would only accelerate those advantages
Of course, he could not answer those questions because they're clever and it takes more than just posting talking points. So, yeah, sometimes "thoughtful perspectives" are just an idiot pontificating about things he's not actually smart enough to understand. The bad news is it just reinforces the stereotype that most education majors are just really not very smart ... which is sad for our kids.
