To think Republicans picked this icon of Christian virtue to replace Cornyn - just when you think the Republican Party can't get any lower.

Talarico is a joke but I cannot in good conscience vote for Paxton. I will not. He has shown us who he is. My voting for the lesser of two evils are done. Not doing it
anymore.

The greater of the two evils thanks you for your support.

The greatest evil is this binary thinking that entrenches the two party system and the bilge of choices brought to the fore.

How so? The people were given the opportunity to pick the candidates that will appear on the November ballot. The people picked Low T and Paxton - rejecting Hunt, Cornyn, Crockett.

Why call this democratic process the greatest evil? Would less democracy make our elections less evil?

The evil is minimizing democracy into a binary choice. It's even worse when we sacrifice principles in order to promote that fallacy. Here's a hint. You don't have to vote for Talarico or Paxton.

True. But the reality is one of them is going to win the election. If you want to have a say in which one represents you for the next six years, you pick the one closest to your positions.

We are not a parliamentary system. It is winner take all. Not voting merely allows the worst candidate into office. That is truly evil.

Policy and politics ebb and flow. Principles are being sacrificed for the sake of victory at all costs. The "lesser of two evils" openly admits that evil is acceptable. Perpetuating the race to the bottom means the difference between the two options become minimal and/or you invite different types of evil into the equation. Policy agreement isn't an excuse for having low or no standards.

Ridiculous. We had primaries in Texas to select the parties' candidates. Just because you do not like the candidates selected by your neighbors does not give you the moral high ground to take your ball and go home. and pout.

Either Low T or Paxton will be your senator for the next six years. If you do not care which one it is, fine. Sit at home.

Voting is not a race to the bottom.

Either Jon Ossoff will continue as my Senator or Mike Collins will be my new one. I'll be voting for Collins. He's the better candidate, not to mention Ossoff never should have beaten David Perdue in 2020 (absentee ballot madness). But that's beside the point.

Voting for the "least of two evils" is a race to the bottom. And I will point out the practice of continuing that.

Then vote for the best of the two that have a chance. Not voting accomplishes nothing.

Best of luck to Collins. I am sure there are plenty in GA that feel the same about Ossoff and Collins as people do about Low T and Paxton.
How about simply "voting the best", regardless of chance to win? Continuing to perpetuate the two party coordinated power play is what has gotten us here.

It is a two party system because it is winner take all. It will always be a two party system.

Voting to get a sticker is just silly.
Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

You just made cinque's day!

Don't be a sheep. Think bigger. You will sleep better.

TS is old cinque trying to poison the Republican voter well. His whole purpose is to discourage conservative voters.

You're ignorance shows. I'm a lifelong conservative Republican. Trump and Paxton are not conservatives, and I wager you're not either.

You're a life long Republican, and Elvis is still alive.

I just didn't drink the Koolaide that you drank. I didn't join the cult and stayed true to conservative principles.

I am not a Trump apologist. I am not a Paxton apologist. I am also absolutely not going to vote for Talrico, which means my vote is essentially against him. I will not allow my vote too even partially be for him by sitting out on a senate seat. Texas representative? Yes. US Senate? No.

And you drank the anti conserviative swill a long long time ago. You have no room to talk about what someone else laps up. You have been a partisan liberal apologist who got the boot, then came back as a life long republican who never posts well of any of your party not named or tied to Trump. You are a fraud on this board.

Your characterizations of my posts are false. I haven't posted as a liberal apologist. The fact that I recognized and called out Trump for who he is from the beginning (a non-conservative, self aggrandizing, malignant narcissist), have been fair and objective in political assessments toward anyone, and not spewed out hate toward liberals or others doesn't make me a liberal. Just as the fact that you'll follow Trump/Paxton over the edge of decency doesn't necessarily mean you're a fascist, or rascist. You could just be gullible.

Show me your positive posts about republicans you like. Your nose is growing longer.

All my posts about Cornyn are positive. Go read my remarks. Ronald Reagan, maybe the greatest president in recent years. Some of my comments about Lindsey Graham have been positive, some negative. The fact that I can be objective and critical about individuals and the party doesn't mean I'm not a Republican. I'm definitely not in the Maga cult.

My driver in Germany told me that his mother, in her 90s at the time, still couldn't bring herself to criticize Hitler - only saying he was misunderstood.

If you are an Aryan in Germany who lived through World War 1 and the Weimar Republic, I could see that.

If you are a Russian who lived through the dissolution of the USSR and the Yeltsin years, you probably have a great appreciation for what Putin has accomplished.

If you are an American that lived through the 1950s and 1960s to see the Carter administration, you probably have enormous respect for Reagan.

When things become bad enough, the appeal of "just fix it!" is very strong. That's just human nature, and probably why we have Trump 2. Unfortunately, Hulk is smashing the wrong things.

This is precisely why we seem to be in this endless cycle of careening between bad and worse candidates from opposing (supposedly, anyway) parties.

Until enough people are willing to vote for stickers and let bad candidates lose general elections, this won't get fixed.

At the foundation of the republic, your state was your party, and party affiliation was a policy tool.

That's why having state legislatures appoint senators was a perfectly functional constitutional system.

Then Woodrow Wilson came along 100 years ago and with his 17th amendment turned the Senate into a "House of We Think We're Lords" through the popular election of the same.

Can I?

I disagree with Bush. Love everything about him and his family. I met him a number of times before he became governor. Cool ass dude.

I like Tillis. Kinda like Paul and Massie. Especially like Massie and Kahanna together.

Here's a second list.

No use for Kirsten Sinema, Hakeem Jeffies, Johnson (Chicago Mayor) Fetterman or Schumer.

Having said that, one of those I would. (Let me add if I were single. (Ain't no ***** good enough to get burnt while I'm up in it.)

You're less than convincing. Your posts are a much higher anti Republican cut and paste than anything else. Just like cinque.

No, I'm anti Trump and Trump does not represent Republican or Conservative prinicples.

You've been way more than just anti-Trump. You're just trying to use that as cover at this point in time.

No I haven't. I guess you don't like Rep. Dan Crenshaw. Do you think he is anti republican?

I do try to be fair and objective about other political views. I don't just dismiss out of hand the concerns of others.

Actions speak louder.

You should reflect on your own views. Trump's record indicates he is not a conservative, and by extension, and in his own right, neither is Paxton.

Trump is not a conservative. However, I don't use Monty Python logic to determine what someone else's views are.
We know we have no good options in the senate race no matter how we voted in the primary. You like to use such conditions to attack the Republican. Consistently.

Because I am a traditional Republican, I attack "Republicans" consistently, who do not live up to the traditional Republican standards of personal integrity and charcter, or stand for the traditional priniciples of democracy, the Constituion, and freedom.

Their actions and the way they conduct themselves tells you their views and who they really are. Grifter is a polite adjective for them.

RD2 and the sanctimonious no voters - closes eyes at the horror that the Dems do. Watches newly elected liberal Texas senator vote for transing kids and open borders, feels good he didn't vote for that Paxton bad guy because voting for lesser of two evils made his tummy hurt.

Get over yourself, some politicians will suck, but the policies are way more important than one man. Paxton's policies are not the lesser of two evils. He'll vote for the direction this country needs to go. Cornyn would have sold us out to illegal immigrants.

Don't like Paxton, but the biggest issue is the left, he's going to fight against terrible policies that affect the whole nation.

I will never again cast a vote for Ken Paxton, Greg Abbott, or Dan Patrick. Am done with their "my way or the highway" style of politics.

Such a short sighted view. The truth is we aren't ever going to have great candidates, some bad ones will get through ... even the good ones turn bad. But some of the bad ones vote for our causes.

Libs will vote for a nazi racist because they don't care about anything, they just want to vote for turning our country into a crap hole like they are the rest of the West. Conservatives sitting it out, will just watch the place burn in their smug short sighted "they should run better people" crap thinking.

Vote for the best in the primary. That's it. That's the system. That's your call. Outside of that, it's vote against liberal tyranny and for moderate to conservative policies.

Some of you people are such drama queens. Yeah politicians suck, they do everywhere in the world. Help your candidate do better in the primary. That's it.

You couldn't pay me $10,000 to vote for Paxton. He is a putrid human being and I would be ashamed for him to represent the state of Texas.

Paying people to hire isn't a GOP thing. That's what Dems do. In LA, the Dems paid thousands of homeless to vote for a Dem mayor candidate, helping them steal an election. Spencer Pratt, the people of LA, and really all of America suffered as a result.
