The Fox news account (from which the NYP appears to be lifted) indicated the Prosecutor has already cleared $1mm for the prosecution. It also mentions that the cost of defense is increased because it is a death penalty case.

Thank you for answering what our resident twerp/troll can't. What you say makes perfect sense to me. The cost of prosecution will likely be more as well because of the death penalty aspect. Agree?

Being Utah, I thought there might some mystery to the process. Further check shows the Post and Fox were following the local press where there is a call to raise the spending levels in the state for death penalty cases. I also was reminded Utah still has death by firing squad, which seems a bit ironic in this case, and not exactly a cost saver (firing squads have to be paid and all)...there are some that thought the added requirements and costs to death penalty cases would lead taxpayers to say no mas. Hasn't happened.
