Disagree a bit. It matters how Americans are seen around the world, because China, Russia, the Democrats a and many other America-haters will constantly trash the US and its citizens. The FIFA games helped a lot to prove how Americans really behave, but it also helps when our business people act with decorum and integrity.

Japanese and Korean (larges of the ex-pat community and Thai would never say anything because they are just so respectful. Chinese are loud, obnoxious and if they didn't throw around a bunch of $, they would not be welcomed. On a more important note. got back to Dallas 2 days ago, and damn it's hot as ball. I'd called you a liar if you told me Thailand is much cooer than Dallas.

Euros: I have had no problem with anyone but urban snobs in France, northern Italy, and the Baltics.

Japanese: Business people who show respect, receive same. Tourists also, but they mostly want American $$$

Koreans: I have always had good relations with South Koreans. Maybe you are dealing with Pyongyang?

Chinese: Americans are generally loved, especially in Shanghai and Hong Kong. Bureaucrats not so much.

But winning elections doesn't prove that every business venture was successful, nor does having a famous brand prove that the underlying business record was brilliant. And the "swamp" argument cuts both ways. Trump campaigned on draining the swamp, yet there are legitimate questions today about the overlap between his political power and his family's business interests. So no, I'm not claiming Trump's entire life is "one long con." I'm saying political victories don't magically erase business failures or legitimate questions about conflicts of interest.
