That's part of it...But also their direct to consumer push at the expense of relationship with store front vendors, lack of innovation and increased competition has hurt them badly.

How did direct to consumer hurt them? Seems like that would be a benefit and has been for most customers/companies as the company makes all the money, the customer gets a less expensive product and the only loser is the store.

How did direct to consumer hurt them? Seems like that would be a benefit and has been for most customers/companies as the company makes all the money, the customer gets a less expensive product and the only loser is the store.

I'm not sure why it didn't work for them, but when it didn't, they had lost a lot of shelf space to other brands and the vendors were not welcoming them back with open arms. I got this info listening to podcasts on nike's struggles. They had some leadership turnover too and hired a guy that was going to try to rekindle those relationships. Nike lost its margin and, compared to onon and hoka (deckers) have had to discount to move their product. The brand has really suffered lately.

Oh ok that makes sense now. They tried to go direct to customers and stopped selling in certain stores.

I am not sure of another brand in any category that has done that. They all start pushing the direct to customers side more but are still in stores at least until the direct route takes off. Even then, very few have gone completely out of stores

How's that Target boycott going?

This is the way I went

I could not tell you the last time I bought a pair of Nikes. Or even a shirt, hat, etc. (unless it was a BU gear that was Nike).

I did try Oncloud shoes and while comfortable they were junk shoes. A hole started to form on the top of the shoe and their customer service said that was from normal wear and tear...... after only 3 months of having them.

Honestly, I go with Adidas or Asics shoes most of the time.
