I would never in a million years sign up for anything that involved Google being my ISP.

GFiber is light years better than the other providers. Google doesn't have much to do with it anymore, they are more interested in selling ads to all the VPN providers they run

You have to be extremely careful when you pick a VPN. One of the VPN companies (ExpressVPN) that advertised heavily on conservative media was bought by a London based firm that has ties to Israeli intelligence. That firm previously bought CyberGhost, ZenMate, and Private Internet Access.
There are maybe 3 or 4 VPN companies worth buying a subscription today.
