More than 25% of Americans were not alive during 9/11.

If you include people between the ages of 0 and 5 (typically too young to have solid memories of certain events), the number jumps to 40% of Americans.

I heard somebody say the other day it is almost the equivalent of WW2 for my generation (Gen X). We weren't around for it and really only knew about it from history class.

I wouldn't say Islam is EVIL. There are certainly sects of Islam who are the devil and want to kill us. I give you Saudi and Iran. However, there are many Muslims who are peaceful, engaged and assimilated. There are others that are not. I frequent a Cigar Lounge in BKK and the hotel (Intercontinental) that seems to cater to Muslims. I have to admit some of those folks make me a little uneasy, particularly the women with full length Black Burka's with eye slits. There are some ladies who just wear very pretty outfits with Hijab. They seem worlds apart. All religions have there fringe. Christians have Neo Nazis, White Power and the like. One thing I have learned from living in 3 different foreign countries and visited 45 countries is as Depeche Mode would say "People are People". People are generally good folks. Govts are the problem and generally suck and the people don't really have a choice. You can lump present day America in that pathetic govt, apparatus . People are generally well meaning with exceptions.
