Always sad when people mistake Sikhs for Muslims

Not only are they not...but their whole history is actually just one big long conflict with Islam & Muslims.

[Sikh-Muslim relations began peacefully....then turning into a long-standing, religio-political conflict against the Mughal Empire (Muslims)

The fifth Sikh Guru was executed in 1606 by Mughal Emperor Jahangir, which marked a major turning point from cooperation to active hostility.

The ninth Sikh Guru was publicly executed in 1675 by Emperor Aurangzeb for defending the religious freedom of Hindus.

After the decline of the Mughal Empire, Sikhs faced repeated invasions and battles against northern Afghan and Islamic tribes.]

Often not talked about but one of the big reasons the Sikhs stayed loyal to the British in the 1857 munity...is that Muslims were a big part of the revolt and intended to revive the Islamic Mughal Empire....

[The initial spark of the 1857 mutiny was heavily tied to religious and caste purity, specifically rumors (untrue) that the British were using rifle cartridges greased with beef and pork fat, which offended Hindu and Muslim soldiers. Because Sikhism rejects the strictures of the Hindu caste system and Islamic dietary codes, Sikh soldiers did not share the same religious motivations to revolt.

When the mutineers marched on Delhi, they declared the aging Mughal Emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar, as the Emperor of Hindustan. For the Sikhs, the memory of brutal persecution under Mughal rule -including the torture and execution of their Gurus (Guru Arjan and Guru Tegh Bahadur)- was a central part of their collective history. The prospect of a resurrected Mughal Empire was completely unacceptable to the Sikh community, making the British seem like a far more stable and religiously tolerant alternative.]

I wouldn't say Islam is EVIL. There are certainly sects of Islam who are the devil and want to kill us. I give you Saudi and Iran. However, there are many Muslims who are peaceful, engaged and assimilated. There are others that are not. I frequent a Cigar Lounge in BKK and the hotel (Intercontinental) that seems to cater to Muslims. I have to admit some of those folks make me a little uneasy, particularly the women with full length Black Burka's with eye slits. There are some ladies who just wear very pretty outfits with Hijab. They seem worlds apart. All religions have there fringe. Christians have Neo Nazis, White Power and the like. One thing I have learned from living in 3 different foreign countries and visited 45 countries is as Depeche Mode would say "People are People". People are generally good folks. Govts are the problem and generally suck and the people don't really have a choice. You can lump present day America in that pathetic govt, apparatus . People are generally well meaning with exceptions.

The head to toe burka with only eye slits has always given me the creeps. As far as individual Muslims, I've had plenty of friends who are great people and wouldn't harm anybody. Several who escaped terrorism themselves.

Thankfully, most of the missing turned up alive and well and the death toll was less than 3k, including Pentagon & Flight 93. It's a horrific number, the worst terrorist attacking in US history, but far less than 6k.

That is a remarkably sophisticated theological argument: "Islam is evil, and Muhammad is the father of the Antichrist." I assume the supporting evidence is filed right next to the rest of the things you've simply declared to be true.
If you actually have an argument, make it. Cite the teaching, the text, or the historical evidence you think proves your point. Otherwise, this isn't theology or scholarshipit's just religious name-calling dressed up as certainty.

You are surprised that more people cared about 9/11 than Pearl Harbor in September?

"Muhammad is the father of the antichrist" doesn't seem to be so much an argument as a metaphor, but, Islam is evil. All religions that do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as the risen son of God fit into the category of evil. Islam is no different.

I never understood how the number of missing kept going up for weeks after the attacks...... it should not have been that hard for people to communicate with their loved ones. Even back then when not everyone had a cell phone.

It wasn't like people's homes were destroyed, couldn't get access to them, etc. and they were living in shelters.

It just always seemed like people were reporting others missing AND their company in the towers was and they were being counted twice.

People will remember it on December 7th or just before.

Plus there are very FEW people alive today that have any memory of that at all. It was 85 years ago this December.

Meaning most people that would have a true memory of it would be about 95 or older. Meanwhile anyone 35 or older remembers 9/11

But check back here in December and I guarantee there will be a thread about it.

Islam is not a "religion of peace." It is the opposite, a religion of war and conquest. For 1,400 years, beginning with Muhammad, Muslims have engaged in extreme levels of ruthlessness and barbarism. While other cultures have become more civilized in many respects, they largely have not. What Hamas did on October 7, 2023 is normal for them. In a way, so is 9-11 although that was more elaborate and on a larger scale.

By most rational standards, that describes evil.

If your argument is simply, "Christianity is true and Islam contradicts Christianity," then make that argument. That's a theological claim that can actually be examined. "They don't believe what I believe, therefore they're evil" is not an argument. It's a conclusion looking for a reason.

My argument is that Jesus Christ is the risen Son of God, fully man and fully God. Salvation comes through no other. Given this, any religion, including any claiming to be "Christian," that offers anything else is evil.
