When the next Congress swears in, there will be:

House 226D and 209R
Senate 51D and 49R, flipping NC, OH. ME, and TX (listed in order of confidence).
Governor's Mansions 25D/25R (Hot Wheels survives)

I know there are a few independents; the numbers indicate which party the independents will caucus with. Would not be surprised to see Fetterman start to caucus with the GOP by 2028.

Call your shot.

Dems acquire a majority in both the house and senate.

Immediately begin impeachment hearings against Trump.......'crimes' to be established as needed.

Dems fail to obtain a 2/3 majority of senators willing to vot for conviction.

However Trump's presidency will be little more than cheap theater in the last 2 years of his term.

As much as I am tempted, I am not responding to predictions or characterizations about what will happen after Congress is seated. The thread is for election predictions. Wondering what everyone is really thinking versus what they are hoping for.

Don't care what the polls say, it's hard for me to predict Collins losing in Maine. I do think 51D-49R is likely in the Senate though, but with El-Sayed from Michigan instead of the guy in Maine. Abbott definitely survives in Texas, along with Patrick. Bo French is in real danger, too many people know his name for the wrong reasons, ironically if he had just shut up he'd be in a better position. I would also have the Texas Senate race in the "low confidence" category, but I think Talarico manages to win. Win or lose for Talarico, I'm interested to see if his coat-tails can change anything in the State Leg and beyond, everyone remembers Beto losing in 2018, but some forget what happened in a lot of smaller races.

That would make Fetterman the single most powerful vote in all of Congress (if he stays on the blue team), he'd be basically the new Joe Manchin, but a lot dumber.

El-Sayed would not be a pickup. The seat belongs to Gary Peters, a retiring Dem. If Collins wins, the Dems need to go to Iowa, Alaska, Nebraska, Kansas, Mississippi, or South Carolina. (last two are the longest of long shots).

I've seen too many "Texas is turning blue" elections to believe Talarico can upset Paxton and his tribe of trite.

I think the Democrats will easily take the House but I do not think they will take the Senate.

House and Senate both flip to Dem control. I have no prediction as to the exact numbers in the House.

Senate I'll go 52-48 Dem. KS and AK are very much in play. Also may have a "didn't see THAT one coming" somewhere. SC ... IA ...MN? I kinda like Susan Collins and hope she holds her seat.

Hopefully Congress will assert itself as an equal branch, whatever the outcome.

I don't really follow the polls, but my gut feeling is that the Democrats win both houses. The main question is whether Trump allows them to be seated or decides to release the monsters. He'll be under great pressure to do the latter, but the narcissist in him will want to save his ammo for another run in 2028.

In the end it will come down to which way the military and his praetorian guards in ICE cast their lot.

The legit winners will be seated. And the pardon office will get busy.

Of course they will. Sam is a drama queen, and always has been.

Dems flip House and Senate. Talarfreako beats the most unelectable republican Senate candidate of the past 40 years.

I think it'll end up pretty close to the current forecast averages:
House: 234D / 201R
Senate: 51D / 49R

Dems will almost certainly win the house. Senate is more interesting.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's bloc is currently expected to enter the Knesset with 53 seats, the Central Elections Committee (CEC) announced on Wednesday morning after almost five million votes were counted.

Netanyahu's Likud is projected to enter with 26 seats, while United Torah Judaism, Shas, and Otzma Yehudit are expected to enter with seven seats, and the Religious Zionist Party is expected to enter with six seats, respectively.

The opposition bloc, comprising Yashar, B'Yachad, Yisrael Beytenu, and the Democrats, is expected to enter the Knesset with 48 seats, according to data from the CEC.

Paxton defeats Talarico

There are a lot of really knowledgeable posters on the TexAgs politics board who think Paxton will win a close W over Talarico based on the reporting data by county so far. We will see.

Not if by some miracle the Republicans hold onto their slim majorities in the house and senate.

Committee chairmanships are vital commodities.

Republican President. Majority in both Houses these last two years. And what have the Republicans done? Should they retain their seats, we will see more of the same, - which is absolutely nothing.

Even if that were true, it would still be significantly better for Americans than a Democrat-controlled Congress.

My hope is Trump and all of the other congressmen that play golf play a whole bunch of golf after the midterms. This will hopefully reduce fraud and cut down on those jacklegs spending money that we don't have.

For starters, pre-election polling results in the age of Trump & MAGA is as worthless as these kinds of polls have ever been. I don't believe anybody has any meaningful clue about what is going to happen and I know it sounds like a cliche, but it really is 100% about turnout. I too have no idea what the results will be, but I will say I don't think the GOP retaining small majorities in both Houses will take the unimaginable miracle of Biblical proportions many people apparently think it will take.

Agreed . One thing I see is a lot of smoke. I mentioned in another thread that on the Texas Senate race, most of the polls have only published one poll or have not published in more than a month, making it impossible to see any trend in their polling. A number of major polls hide their demographics behind a pay wall or do not publish them at all, raising questions about how they weight results. Such polls are really nothing but noise, and the remainder have margins of error greater than the range between the candidates, allowing the polls an excuse if their published report proves wrong.

Then there is the media, which more and more sells one party ahead of the other; simply reporting about actual policy positions or whether the candidate can even do what he promises is just not happening.
