There was nothing illegal about starting the investigation. With all that we know publicly, it would be criminal negligence not to have initiated it.

I still can't believe after 2016 that y'all think Trump is the one who was treated unfairly. Trump won because his investigation was kept private while Hillary's was extremely public. Trump's campaign met with Russian spies in Trump's own home. Trump Jr. met with with a Russian spy handler at the NRA convention, the same NRA that was infiltrated by a red-headed Russian honeypot. Believing that an investigation was unwarranted given these known facts is pure partisan stupidity wrapped in stubbornness.
The meeting was setup by the same people who wrote the Dossier for entrapment.

You have no ****ing clue what is going on here with FISA abuse. None.

I know what you want to believe happenned. For the rest of us, we recognize the "I was framed" defense for what it is, a desperate attempt to muddy the waters before the real bad news drops. It worked for OJ, so I can't blame them for trying it, but it wont stop what's coming.
The co-founder of Fusion GPS, the firm behind the unverified Trump dossier, met with a the Russian lawyer (who said she had dirt on Clinton) before and after the meeting she had with President Trump's son.

You think that's coincidence?

I think a conspiracy where a "duped" Trump meets with Russian spies and nobody finds out until after Hillary loses is a pretty stupid conspiracy. Thankfully, we don't have to guess about what the Trump camp's intent was, because Trump Jr.'s email chain makes it plainly obvious that they met with Russian government agents to get info on Hillary. And then coincidentally, Russia began releasing the hacked DNC emails soon after that meeting.
Don't avoid the question.

Is it a coincidence or not?
Where does the logic lead in this conspiracy theory of yours? They set Trump up only to then let him beat Hillary? Does it matter who Veselnitskaya met with when we have the emails where it is laid out for Trump Jr. that the meeting would be part of "the Russian government's support" for Trump? Are y'all just going to continue to ignore the email cited in Butina's criminal information that talked about a "VERY private line of communication between [GOP] leaders and the Kremlin through [the NRA[", or that Butina, a Russian spy, predicted a GOP POTUS all the way back in 2015?

The "I was framed" line doesn't make sense when you take into consideration the context that Trump won. It would have to be the stupidest plan ever to spend time and resources setting someone up and then not using the fruits of that setup at all. Did the Democrats make Trump supplicate himself in front of Putin in Helsinki too? Did the Dems make all those GOPers take that suspiciously symbolic trip to Moscow on July 4th?
Quit avoiding the damn question.

Why the hell did FusionGPS meet with the lawyer before and directly after the meeting?
Because she's a spy who handles Russian business in America and there are only so many Russian assets walking around in the US? Simpson said they met on the 8th to discuss a court case they (her and Fusion) were working on (the hearing was the 9th, quite the convenient cover for her meeting the same day in Trump Tower), and apparently they attended the same group dinner on the 10th.

I guess what I want to know is, if there was a setup as you contend, why did we not hear about any of it until after the election was long over? If the public had known about the June 9 meeting during the campaign I guarantee you Trump would have lost. Also, why was Don Jr. so willing to be "set up" and meet with Russian agents? The meeting was arranged by Russian people the Trump's have known for a while now, are you saying the Agalarov's were in on it and working for Hillary too? Did the Dems make him hire Manafort too, was that part of the setup?
Do you not understand that the Russian said she had dirt and then the meeting was about the Magnitsky act?
It's not illegal to respond to someone saying they have dirt and then meeting with them.

But why would she talk with FusionGPS, tell Jr. she had dirt in an email and then meet and not give up dirt at all...hell not even bring it up?

It's no different than Hillary paying for the Dossier created by a British Spy...which she did.

Believing they didnt exchange any consideration or "dirt" assumes that the participants are telling the truth. What actual evidence can you show, other than statements by the meeting participants, that it was only about the magnitsky act? I really don't think I should have to explain the concept of a cover story to you.

We already know that Trump Jr., in a statement at least partially dictated by his father, lied about the reason for the meeting before they knew the NYTimes had the actual emails, I see no reason not to think they are lying about the meeting still. There's an old saying that more or less goes, "if you want to find the wrong, follow the lies".

Probably a leak, but I couldn't say from who. Or maybe a hack, by the Qatari's possibly since they've been accused of just that lately. I'd love to know, but after 2016 election hacked or stolen emails are fair game in my eyes, at least as far as the Trump's are concerned. That's what happen when you successfully sink to unprecedented new lows, it sets a precedent and changes the rules.

It's amazing how one side sees Trump as a victim and Deep State as the criminal and the other side sees Trump as the criminal and Deep State as the victim.

The issue is that each side consumes different media and the problem is that the media has aligned itself with a side, has dropped even a passing interest in 'truth' and presents different 'facts.' There is a whole industry that has popped up to monitor media bias and do fact checking.

HucK consumes media that presents Trump as a criminal. He (she) is not even exposed to other facts. So, HucK has no way to agree with anyone except other liberals. That's why he(she) sounds like a idiot to you and what HucK says seems so incomprehensible. He (she) has no way of knowing any different.

To both sides, you should find centrist media. If you believe that all of the facts show that Trump should be investigated, you are consuming left wing extremist media. If you believe that all of the facts show that Trump should not be investigated, you are consuming right wing extremist media.

Great post. You should copy and paste this in every single thread in this message board. Sadly, neither side will listen as they will continue to consume news that confirms their bias.

Completely false. It was publicized almost exactly two years ago, the perfect time to sway the election if it was going to. The funny thing is that no one remembers it because no one thought it was important at the time. It was only after Trump's victory that Democrats started treating it as a national crisis.

So your argument is since Trump won it doesn't matter that the Democrats & Hillary were involved in illegal acts to take down and frame the opposing party? Please tell me you aren't a public servant or in law enforcement.

So w/ that logic I can go rob a bank and if I fail I can tell the judge I didn't get anything so can I go free?

And your 2nd point that it was stupid to set them up then not use those resources? This can't be serious? They literally used that dossier to take down Trump. Our country is literally on fire politically and divided because of the fruits of that fraudulent dossier. It's what the liberal lying press have been using to justify their crazy Russian coverage for 2 years and drum up liberal support for the midterms. IMO they have done more damage than Russia or China could ever dream of, but if discourse and mistrust in Democracy was Russia's plan all along I'd say mission accomplished for Putin.

HuMcK you seem like a smart reasonable guy but you must have been living under a rock the last 2 years to not understand this.
Please cite evidence of such.

7 months ago FISC judge Collyer responded to Goodlatte's request to see FISA docs given to her courtare they different from what was shown to congress? Her response? Go through executive branch. Which they have now done!

With tons of supporting evidence, it has been suggested Goodlatte and Nunes etc discovered that the FISA docs the DOJ had given them were NOT THE DOCS the FISA court had seen and approved.

This idea dates back some months and was supported by this interesting response of the judge to their request to see HER copies.

She was clearly taken aback and said OK this is highly unusual. So why don't you go through legal channels eg. executive branch and ask DOJ for them.

They have. DOJ is apparently now refusing to send out redacted files. Said to be slapping unredacted files on White House desk.

If these docs differ it is some seriously deep *****
Doc Holliday

Basically the DOJ altered the FISA documents. Then sent the altered FISA documents to the FISA court. And now the DOJ doesn't want to release the unredacted (original, unaltered) FISA documents because not only it would declassify the documents, but it would ALSO show that they altered them.
