That we implement a licensing process for gun ownership and registration similar to driving and registering your car, where you have to take a written test and a test to show that you understand gun safety (similar to the driving test you take with a police officer), renew your license on a regular basis and register the firearm. Since the gun lobby so often compares guns and cars, they should have no objection.

- Chicago has a licensing and testing process for any type of firearm.
- Chicago requires a waiting period when buying any type of firearm
- Chicago has banned assault weapons

Chicago has one of the highest rates of gun violence in the US.

Laws by themselves won't help with gun control. What else would you propose?

Killing babies is a real national emergency. Far more unborn children are killed each year than people killed by guns.

Perhaps if we made all men and women get a license to have sex and take educational courses to know what can happen with unprotected sex and the responsibilities of both parties if an unplanned pregnancy occurs, we can save lives.

Based on the exposed behavior of the FBI and Department of Justice these last two and a half years, U.S. citizens registering all of their guns with the government is not an option. When the highest levels of law enforcement are corrupt, they have proven as our framers of the Constitution knew, our government cannot be trusted. I did not feel this way three years ago.

Approximately 1,600 babies died yesterday due to abortions. That even makes Chicago look good.

This is a bald faced lie Obama started at his Town Hall.

You cannot legally buy a gun in Indiana unless you actually live in Indiana.

By the way, that's a federal law all states follow.

Also true for Indiana:
To buy a handgun in Indiana, you must:
Be 18 or older;
Present state ID (read that one more time)
Submit to an instant background check.
You are prohibited from owning a gun if you:
Have been convicted or a felony;
Have been convicted of domestic battery;
Are a drug abuser or under the influence of a drug;
Are an alcohol abuser or are intoxicated; or
Are mentally incompetent.
El Oso

I'll offer the same deal I did on BF when Obama made the claim.

You and I drive up to Indiana and legally buy a gun using our legally issued id cards.

If we get them immediately, I'll pay for the trip and guns. If we don't, you pay for the trip and buy me a gun of my choosing when we get back to Dallas.

You better bring a lot of money. I'll be getting my bucket list AR15 when we get back to Texas. It's $1500.
