I thought Chicago has some of the toughest gun control laws in the country? What exactly are you proposing?
That we implement a licensing process for gun ownership and registration similar to driving and registering your car, where you have to take a written test and a test to show that you understand gun safety (similar to the driving test you take with a police officer), renew your license on a regular basis and register the firearm. Since the gun lobby so often compares guns and cars, they should have no objection.

- Chicago has a licensing and testing process for any type of firearm.
- Chicago requires a waiting period when buying any type of firearm
- Chicago has banned assault weapons

Chicago has one of the highest rates of gun violence in the US.

Laws by themselves won't help with gun control. What else would you propose?

The firearm this man had was illegal. How do we stop that from happening?

Easy to get illegal firearms in Illinois because they're near Indiana, which has lax gun laws.

Since it's Indiana with the lax gun laws, then the murder rate in Indiana should be higher than that in Chicago, right?

Comparing urban attractive Chicago compared to mostly rural Indiana is a stretch.
Gary, Indiana is closet thing to demographically as Chicago. They have the 3rd highest murder rate in the United States.

Illinois ranks #12 in population density.
Indiana ranks #16 in population density.

Not that much difference. Illinois has a lot of rural area.

% of state used for farmland:
#7 Illinois at 77% of land
#10 Indiana at 65% of land

Indianapolis is the 2nd largest city of the Midwest with over 800,000 and has a metro area of over 2 million.

Indy is not comparable to Chicago.

Gary is 45 miles from Downtown Chicago. It is the armpit of Chicago, There are no adult entertainment establishments in Chicago. The establishments are in Gary, Indiana.
Gary has all the associated sins with these establishments. Same demographics and issues. Gary is way more dangerous than Chicago.
