Quote:
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg today completed a three-week course of stereotactic ablative radiation therapy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. The focused radiation treatment began on August 5 and was administered on an outpatient basis to treat a tumor on her pancreas. The abnormality was first detected after a routine blood test in early July, and a biopsy performed on July 31 at Sloan Kettering confirmed a localized malignant tumor. As part of her treatment, a bile duct stent was placed. The Justice tolerated treatment well. She cancelled her annual summer visit to Santa Fe, but has otherwise maintained an active schedule. The tumor was treated definitively and there is no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body. Justice Ginsburg will continue to have periodic blood tests and scans. No further treatment is needed at this time.

I've been scolded by gun rights advocates that prayers don't work and that it is a cheap sentiment. So I guess I'm wrong if I do and wrong if I don't.blackie said:And that is all it means to you? So much for prayers, I guess.fadskier said:

If she is able to do the job, and she has been, it is her call and not "shameful" to remain.Doc Holliday said:
It's unfortunate, but she's lived a long privileged life. Longer than most. I hope she endures as little pain as possible.
I still think it's disrespectful and inappropriate of her to maintain her seat on the SC. Shameful even.

Shes fallen asleep. She can hardly see. Her health keeps her out of work for weeks on end. She can't type or write. Her age distances her from the issues of today.D. C. Bear said:If she is able to do the job, and she has been, it is her call and not "shameful" to remain.Doc Holliday said:

Would you still say this if she was a conservative judge in an environment with a Dem president and Dem Senate majority? You know good and well that conservatives would be trying to drag things out as long as they could in hopes of keeping the "seat".Doc Holliday said:

Dems were begging her to resign when Obama was in, they were very upset she didn't. She knew the GOP would never vote someone in who was as far left as she was so she didn't want to resign, guarantee she thought Hillary would win. It's ridiculous for someone that old (lib or conservative) to stay in Congress SCOTUS or Presidency.blackie said:Would you still say this if she was a conservative judge in an environment with a Dem president and Dem Senate majority? Today the average American is 20 years younger than their representative in Congress. This should come as no surprise, considering that over the past 30 years the average age of a Member of Congress has increased with almost every new Congress. In 1981, the average age of a Representative was 49 and the average of a Senator was 53. Today, the average age of a Representative is 57 and the average of a Senator is 61. This prompted us to take a further look at those graying averages.Doc Holliday said:100% yes.blackie said:Would you still say this if she was a conservative judge in an environment with a Dem president and Dem Senate majority?Doc Holliday said:

In fact I think Trump and anyone over 70 is too old for Presidency.
and of course conservatives would do the same thing. It's human behavior.

Democratic leaders in the House are two decades older than Republican leaders.
The average age of the Democratic House leadership is 72 years old, whereas the average age of Republican House leadership is 48 years old. This trend continues in House committee leadership with Republican chairmen averaging 59 years old and ranking Democrats averaging 68 years old.
... bipartisanship has decreased by 30% since 1989.

There's a lot of problems here. Others are writing her opinions. Drafting her documents under her nose and ultimately subverting Democracy.
This is an area where term and age limits should be required.
I also share the same viewpoint when it comes to driving a vehicle where old Age is dangerous for everyone.
She's 86 years old! Do you know anyone in the private sector that's 86 years old holding an executive position?
