Went with an old friend yesterday to exam new sections of the international border wall including a huge section up the side of Mount Christo Rey that was PRIVATELY built . The engineering was incredible ( and massive up a 14% incline ) and done far cheaper and faster than federally built sections .
Saw Mexican army troops with assault rifles and wearing full body armor patrolling their side of the wall.
Eventually a US Border Patrol agent drove over to check us out. Talked to us for about 30 minutes. ( This Border Patrol agent was Hispanic and a first generation LEGAL immigrate from JUAREZ, Mexico ).
According to this agent.....
1. The wall is definitely working making their job easier and safer. As the wall continues to go up...the number of arrests continues to go down . Fewer and fewer illegals are even making the attempt to enter the US.
2. Mexican army troops have only been patrolling their side of the wall the last few months (since Trump reached an agreement with the new Mexican President ). However these Mexican army troops ARE now detouring the caravans from Central America from approaching the US border .
3. Trump has improved the morale of the Border Patrol with his actions . But they are still thousands of men short because
A. The lie detector test discourages many applicants
B. Many agents transfer to other federal law enforcement agencies ASAP for better pay and work schedules
and most importantly
C. Many of the areas where agents get stationed are extremely remote-isolated ( **** holes ) and it's hard on their families to live in such places . ( was completely surprised by this comment-had never thought about it....but it makes perfect sense )
4. Legalizing drugs would NOT eliminate the Mexican drug cartels as they would merely increase their human trafficking enterprises.
5. Obama was tougher on illegal immigration than he is generally given credit for ( was surprised to be told that one large section of the border wall we saw was in fact funded by Obama ).
6. DACA was a disaster . Dramatically increased the number of illegals bringing children with them in the hope they would all eventually be giving citizenship.
7. The media routinely misrepresents border realities .
8. The Mexican drug cartels primarily kill each other though thousands have been killed in the crossfire or by 'mistake'.
'They don't give a ****'.
9. Trump has done a 'great job' but he still needs to....
A. Increase ICE and Border Patrol manpower BEHIND the US Border so that more illegals can deported who have slipped into the US interior .
B. Expand the use of legal Work Permits ( Micas ) so more illegals can do the jobs 'Americans simply don't want to do'.
10. The vast majority of 'asylum' seekers never show up for their scheduled hearings . But merely disappear into the US interior .
