I am really missing The Great Game. I have not even begun to comprehend a season without Baylor football and the NFL. I guess the good news being a Chiefs fan I will have more time to celebrate!

Personally, I'd deal with that situation as best I could via whiskey and months of deep depression.

A much riskier game

Looks like the entire college football system could be a risk. Makes sense - football single-handedly funds the athletic departments for every school (a few make money from men's basketball). This could actually destroy college football.

https://www.si.com/college/2020/04/08/college-football-future-2020-ncaa-coronavirus

"A total or partial loss of the sport could send some athletic departments so deep into the red that one administrator predicted even Power 5 football programs shuttering. But the absence of football is only one piece. The long-term and severe financial impacts from an economic recession could not only reform forever how departments operate but also could spell sweeping changes to the landscape of college athleticsfrom the formation of a super division to a new wave of conference realignment, from money-saving travel modifications to football scheduling alterations, from discontinued sports to thousands of lost jobs."

If they social distance themselves on the field they should be fine...

Some Big 12 defenses will fit right in

I loved the way Lache Seastrunk was able to socially distance himself from the KState D.

I would hate to miss a football season, maybe though it would revert to a true amateur sport. Not likely though.

Blessing in disguise .

Let real students get some exercise, fire ridiculously expensive coaches, and turn over these palatial athletic facilities for the use of the entire student body .

I actually had a stretch of about 10 years where I watched almost no football including missing Super Bowls. I found it took too much of my time especially with my lifestyle.

The only time I've really missed football was when I was in Canada for a while and I didn't have access to it. (I could watch that three down, everyone moving game. It wasn't the same).

That was bad.

Some humble suggestions for the OP:

1. Learn a foreign language
2. Learn a musical instrument
3. Learn more about Church history or the bible or another faith in an effort to evangelize
4. Go make a baby with your wife
5. Learn how to cook or try some new things.
6. Write a book
7. Read books you said you never had time for
8. Learn something artistic like painting, working with clay or drawing
9. Start a garden now and enjoy the bounty in the Fall
10. Do more charity work
11. Learn a new subject.
12. Rebuild an old car or build something.
13. Fire your handyman and/or maid and do it yourself.
14. If you have video and technical skills, offer them to the church or other churches.

Let me guess. Was that during Roberts, Steele, and Morriss era (19972007)

Maybe my priorities are all screwed up, but I worry more about college football being cancelled than I do about the stock market crashing.

I for sure missed ALL the Roberts years. The end of the Teaff years and the beginning of the Steele years.

I went to the Tech game during the Steele years. Bought tickets. Got in a little late and we were down by 21 points. It was like 3 minutes into the game.

I didn't kiss the Morris years. I wish like hell I had. Two things I remember for their own reason.

The North Texas game in Denton. Team was unprepared and out of shape. Morriss wanted to try pickle juice. Kansas game. Mangino stood on the 50 and the 49 at the same time.

After watching A&M spend 500 million dollars totally rebuilding Kyle Field and another 70+ million for a football coach ....I've come to the conclusion that college football simply isn't worth it .

1/3 the games are against weak non power 5 programs, players often bolt without a degree , tickets are ludicrously expensive and coaches routinely leave for more money regardless of any contract they sign .

Doubt I've seen a single college game from start to finish in 2 years . It's pro football in all but name .

I am not sure the Baylor athletic department can survive. A loss to West Virginia may be the last Baylor sporting event.

Chuckle. Not today.

How much of that endowment was spent on athletics? How much will it cost to fund the deficit next year for athletics with zero revenue?

I know this is a long shot, hardly conceivable even....but with 1.3 billion tucked away I suspect Baylor will keep the alumni entertained.

The bigger question is whether the endowment of 1.3 billion is still 1.3 billion. The 1.3 billion figure is pre apparent recession (or worse).

I'd bet it's down 25 to 40%.
