Bad shoot.

If the officer believed he was reaching for a knife, and there is some indication the officer knew there was a knife in the truck, then stay out of reach with your weapon aimed, order him to drop the weapon, and shoot only if he poses a danger to you or anybody else.

I realize this is hindsight but there are places where this is the trained response. (Don't ask for the specific departments, there was a former police commander on NPR who does this type of training.)

Also, the Kenosha Kid shot three people, the police had no idea under what circumstances, he tried to surrender and the cops let him walk. Cops responding to a shooting.

Jacob Blake would be glad to have had half that chance.

Elizabeth LeCron and Vincent Armstrong of Toledo, Ohio, were arrested in December 2018 on multiple charges related to a plot to blow up Toledo bar in order to cause mass casualties.
