Georgia completes its full recount, reaffirming Biden's victory.

ATLANTA After six days of hand-counting ballots, the Georgia secretary of state's office reaffirmed on Thursday that President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. had defeated President Trump in the state, which had long been considered a Republican stronghold.
The Trump campaign asked Secretary of State Brad Raffenspergerof Georgia, a Republican, for a full hand recount one week after Election Day. Mr. Raffensperger announced soon after that all 159 counties would participate in a "risk-limiting audit" that would include a hand recount. The audit of roughly five million votes was completed late Wednesday.
Though the result was something of a foregone conclusion, the recount took place amid escalating tension over the election outcome. The New York Times and other national news outlets called Georgia for Mr. Biden last week. But Mr. Trump has raised baseless accusations of fraud, and his allies most notably Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, Republicans who are facing tough runoff races in the state in January disparaged Mr. Raffensperger and accused him of mismanaging the election.
The process revealed a few significant hiccups in the process, with four counties Floyd, Fayette, Walton and Douglas discovering votes during the audit that were not part of the original count. Mr. Trump carried Floyd, Fayette and Walton Counties; Mr. Biden won Douglas County.
On Thursday, Floyd County's Board of Elections voted unanimously to fire its chief election clerk, Robert Brady, according to Dr. Melanie Conrad, a board member. Mr. Brady was fired after officials found 2,600 ballots that were left uncounted before the county's initial certification of votes.
Most counties saw only minor changes in their tallies, with the recount vote totals differing by single digits. Patrick Moore, a lawyer for the Biden campaign, predicted on Wednesday that the results would show that "the president-elect has won the state of Georgia."
The state has until Friday to certify the election results. The Trump campaign then has two business days to request a second recount, which would be conducted using high-speed scanners.

Interesting those were all pretty much rural counties. Except for Douglas.

They mean black votes. Philly, Detroit, Atlanta, these are all majority black cities. Notice how the Texas GOP's suppression efforts were disproportionately aimed at Houston (and Dallas), another majority black city. Notice how Trump's initial challenges in Nevada and Arizona (not a lot of AfAm voters compared to the midwest) have just gone quiet and forgotten about. Notice how the (now infamous) GOP Wayne County canvassers initially wanted to certify all of their county's votes except Detroit, despite there being larger discrepancies in the white suburbs.

They don't trust black people and have been conditioned to just accept that "certain" cities are corrupt no matter what. Kind of like how every time a discussion of gun rights begins you are very likely to hear conservatives bring up Chicago as a dog whistle. It's just a bigger problem than usual because we have a POTUS who needs to stay in office for his own survival and doesn't mind setting the country on fire to accomplish it.

Exactly. It has absolutely nothing to do with "votes that didn't go my way". It has everything to do with things like huge numbers of mail in votes without signature verification and votes counted without observers from both parties. On their face all of those votes are illegal.

You don't need to play the race card when you're winning, dude. Save it for when Biden/Harris take office and you're faced with defending their policies.

How they interpret it and how it's intended are two different questions. You've attributed racist motives to Republicans in general and to specific posters on this board, so I'm just saying.

Agree with this. The left's tendency to throw out the race card nonchalantly is a big problem. Creates a boy who cried wolf situation.

Never been a Republican. Or a Democrat, for that matter. I've been registered Independent/Unaffiliated (depending on the state where I have lived) since I was of age to vote.

I find it humorous that people still throw around "Lib/Dem" as an insult (if someone is actually liberal, they won't be in the least bit offended) and "Republican" as a compliment, despite there being nothing to take pride in being called that for the past four years.

Houston and Dallas are nowhere near majority black per 2010 census. And they are not increasing in percentages.

Hispanics OTOH are rapidly taking over metro areas in Texas, Arizona and Nevada. Not so much in Georgia.

Houston 22%
Harris Co 20%

Dallas 24%
Dallas Co 23%

Atlanta 51%
Fulton Co 45%

Georgia 32.6%
Texas 12.9%
Nevada 10%
Arizona 5.2%

This election had little to do with race. It was voters in Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania that were won razor thin by Trump in 2016 and he lost in 2020.

He performed better than I expected. I don't know why he can't just pack up and go and try again another day.

Turn out the lights, the party's over

From WSJ:

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is set to certify the Nov. 3 election results on Friday, his office said, declaring President-elect Joe Biden the winner of the state.
The secretary of state's office earlier on Friday prematurely announced that the results had already been certified. The certification is expected later Friday.
Mr. Biden was ahead by more than 12,000 votes in Georgia, according to audit results released Thursday.
"I believe that the numbers that we have presented today are correct," Mr. Raffensperger said at the state Capitol Friday. "The numbers reflect the verdict of the people."

The Associated Press said Thursday that Mr. Biden won Georgia's 16 electoral votes, after a hand recount of the roughly 5 million presidential ballots cast. Mr. Biden's victory in Georgia is the first for a Democratic presidential candidate since Bill Clinton narrowly defeated Republican President George H.W. Bush in 1992.
President Trump will have until Tuesday to ask for a machine recount, the secretary of state's office said. Under Georgia law, after an election is certified, a candidate can request a recount if the margin of victory is less than 0.5%. Mr. Trump is within that margin.
As the Trump campaign contests the election results, key states are required to certify their votes in the coming days, a step states take before winners can be officially confirmed.

I wear the label "conservative" here as a badge of honor. That is who I am. It is kinda comical to me that our most liberal and progressive posters here absolutely don't like to be labeled as such and claim to be "lifelong Republicans" that just don't like Trump because he hurts their feelings. I call BS. This applies to a handful of so-called Libertarians here as well.

Funny, I find that independents aren't really very independent politically.

While roughly 38% of the population try to identify as an independent, almost all certainly lean way or another.

A true independent typically represents a segment of the population that doesn't pay much attention to politics and have a low level of participation.

The fact that you are on this board discussing politics shows that you do not have a lower level of political participation.

Are you just trying to claim the independent label as a means to somehow show us that you're not as partisan as you really are and therefore "smarter" or better than everyone else on this board?

I tend to find that almost all independents are people just too afraid to say what they believe.

So tell us, which way do you lean? Certainly you know where you stand on such partisan issues like:

Abortion
2nd Amendment Rights
Taxes
Police
Global Warming/Climate Change/Climate Crisis
Death Penalty
Health Care
Crime
