How many people actually have ancestors that go back 400 years in the US? I know personally, my ancestors came to the US about 100 years ago. Does that mean I'm excluded from those expectations?

If you're white, absolutely NOT excluded. Because somewhere at sometime you probably had an ancestor that may have looked at a minority the wrong way.

So therefore, you must be cancelled today.

Why does the timeline begin at 400 years? The die was cast for Africa somewhere in the latter 1st Millennium AD. Arguably earlier.

It sure ain't Biden. He can barely get through a scripted "press conference", even with days of preparation and a stack of notes.

This is the only administration in history that has directed everyone to refer to it as the president/VP administration. It was always the Clinton administration, or the Bush administration, or the Obama administration... but now they sent out a directive for everyone to refer to it as the Biden Harris administration.

Face facts dems... you got hustled! The ole bait & switch, and you fell for it hard. Get ready for a president so unpopular that she couldn't even make it through the first few primaries before dropping out.

Kamala Harris... God help us.... she is just horrible.
The next few years are gonna suck!

To be honest, I couldn't be more pleased.

He did great in his press conference. Showed command of the facts. Stayed on message.

And he has a higher approval rating than Trump ever achieved.

It seems you have some nits to pick, but no real substantive issue to raise.

Even the leftist media is starting to notice.

Actually, I think this is there first attempt to begin the normalization of a very abnormal situation. Everyone knew that Joe had dementia, but now we are going to be "surprised" by the diagnosis... but don't worry... the cackling witch of the west is ready to take over.

Relax. The president doesn't change the lives of 90% of Americans. Some of you just don't get it
Hey, I looked but couldn't find where you posted the exact same thing when Trump was in the White House and our resident snowflakes were losing their s-h-i-t on a minute by minute basis.

If you did post the same sentiment, I apologize.... just couldn't find it.

Well you didn't look hard enough. I think both parties are full of ***** Ive voted Republican more than democratic. Bush didn't do anything to get my vote 2nd time, Obama didn't either. Biden is on the clock just like Trump was. After 2 years I will know which way I'm voting.
Hey guys we have yet another liberal lifelong Republican here!

Ted Cruz looks forward to your support.

Nope I'm not a Republican. I just vote based upon What I get out of it. That's the problem. You guys don't demand **** from your politicians. You just follow along with whatever bull**** they feed you to make you feel good about your own subpar life. Really no reason for any white family in this country to be struggling, you had a 400 year head start on the all other ethnic groups in this country. If you are white and living paycheck to paycheck blame your ancestors for not doing better
Skin color has nothing to do with poor life choices. If you drop out school, use drugs, have kids before marriage, don't like to work then it's going to be harder for you to get ahead regardless of skin color. Asians and Indians come to this country and work hard which is why they have the highest income. They go to school, study hard and achieve. They get married and stay married which is positive for their kids' future.
He thinks the world owes him and then owes him double because he's not white. I hate to break to him, but I owe him nothing, you owe him nothing, America owes him nothing, the world owes him nothing.

The only thing this country owes him is the freedom to fail or succeed by his own volition.

If skin color decides who fails and succeeds then Oprah Winfrey would've never been successful, Morgan Freeman too and countless others.

He's just parroting what the liberal left feeds him to make him feel about better about his failures or lack of success. The loony left, socialism and communism need victims to succeed and he's fallen for their BS hook line and sinker.

I'm not surprised, too many educators teach kids what to think, not how to think. Big difference.

I didn't say the country owes me anything. I simply said if your are white and your family has been here from day one then you don't get an excuse for not have a part of the American pie. Your ancestors literally had a 400 yr head start.

I don't need a handout. I did it the old fashion way and live pretty comfortable. My children path will be much easier than mine. For one they won't need student loans to get through college. My wish for them is to pass that on to their children. That's how it works when your ancestor advanced the ball. The fact that some of you want to call it communism proves your family didn't do the same for you

I'm glad that you understand the value of hardwork, and that you value the idea of leaving something behind for your children. I hope you can understand that nothing is for certain, but based upon your "400 years" comments... you don't seem to understand the realities of finance and wealth management. This is probably due to a lack of experience, and some really bad "history" lessons over the years.

It's important to remember that all of those people who arrived over the past 400 years, were poor. There was no incentive for the rich to leave Europe, when the monarchies and aristocracies made it almost impossible for the European rich to ever lose their wealth. That same system which guaranteed their wealth, also made it almost impossible for anyone else to work their way out of poverty & subjugation.
So the vast, vast majority of "white" people who came to America were poor. They came here because they had the opportunity to own land and build something for themselves and their families. Many of them failed, but many of them also succeeded.

What you need to understand is that for most of those 400 years, there was nothing like the FDIC. So almost all of those families which worked their way into the middle class or wealthier classes, lost their wealth when the banks failed. And you have to remember that banks failed a lot during those 400 years. So many families would go from poverty to wealth to poverty in a single generation. This "head start" you keep talking about was not at all the way you keep describing it. You are attempting to put our current economic & financial system over the realities of life in the 1600s through the early 1900s... and it is a very false historical perspective.

As an example, some of my family arrived in America in the early 1700s. They were very poor, and worked as indentured Irish slaves in the English colonies for the first few years. They were free by the time the Revolutionary War ended. They continued to work as tenet farmers in Virginia and then North Carolina. They moved to Tennessee for awhile, before moving to Texas to become Mexican citizens around modern day Nacogdoches, Texas. Moving to Texas, marked the first time that they ever owned their own land outright, and it came with the real danger of fighting wild tribes of Indians and marauding bandits. So after almost 100 years in North America, they finally were able to become land owners, but they were far from "wealthy".
It wasn't until after Texas won its independence that my ancestors were able to begin to build actual wealth. However, almost all of that wealth was lost to bank failures in the 1890s, and so they had to start all over again. My grandfather was born in 1899, the 3rd child and oldest son of a large family. By that time, the family had moved to Oklahoma and were back to being poor dirt farmers. My grandfather moved to Texas to work the oil fields in his teens, and eventually worked his way up to being a successful oil driller. He always put his money in Frost Bank of San Antonio, because it was one of the few banks to never fail during all those years in the 1800s. As far as we know, he was the first of all my ancestors to never lose money due to a bank failure. For this very reason, my family continues to have accounts in Frost Bank, as well as a few other banks with a history of stability in Texas.

I hope this helps you understand just how wrong minded your "400 years" comments are... for most of human existence, it has not worked that way for the average person. There will never be a substitute for hard work, and there will always be unforeseen ways for wealth to evaporate overnight. I pray that your success & wealth will be passed on to future generations, but your comments imply that this is a given... it is not.

Best of luck to you and your family.

Great story about your family, nevertheless they had several opportunities to fail. They had a head start, so rather it was 400 years with several failed opportunities or 100 years since the early 1900s their skin tone afforded them certain opportunities that my ancestors didn't have. when Black communities thrived, white people slaughtered entire towns like Tulsa, Ok, Wilmington, NC and what is now modern day Central Park. I learned your history but I spent more time learning mine. But hey racism didn't give you a head start. Then I talk to my parents who went to segregated schools and realize some of y'all are just full of ***** Some of you on this board are the same one who didn't welcome those who look like my parents to your school. But hey I'm a Christian in Sunday and a bigot on Monday through Saturday. So like I said some of your ancestors failed you.

Man, I've got so many mixed emotions about you. You have worked hard, persevered, and have realized the American dream. That makes me very proud of you. Yet at the same time, you have this HUGE chip on your shoulder and seem to think blacks are disadvantaged now and have been for 400 years and Whitey is the enemy. That makes me very disappointed in you. We will see what happens. Mankind is inherently good. Hope you don't disappoint me. I am not giving up on you just yet.

Dude is an irrational racist attempting to justify his racism .

He's not unique or special ...such individuals come in all colors , shapes and ages .

Can't fix them either ....they can only fix themselves .

Until that day arrives ( if ever ) .......it's best merely to smile and walk away .

Yep huge chip on his shoulder and he believes his race is that of a victim. He's parroting the same BS fed to him since birth by liberals and democrats and the media. He's the type that finds racism where it doesn't exist.

He, himself is a racist, but feels it's justified because 400 years ago, when the United States wasn't the United States some ancestors he doesn't know was brought over as slaves paying a high price for his opportunities that he has today. Yes, he has more opportunities today in the good 'ole USA than he would have if he was born and living in poverty that exists in most parts of Africa; you know, where today there are still slaves, many of them children.

I see how he wants to blame the USA for engaging in slavery hundreds of years ago when none of us were alive, but doesn't want to give this country credit for actually ending it.

Today in America, black people have it better than any other time in this country's history. Somehow, I don't think he'll ever be satisfied.

It's sad to see someone with so much hate in their heart. Sadly, we've seen this many times before and we've seen people in power take advantage of that hate. We will continue to see politicians take advantage of that hate to push whatever agenda they want.

I'm really sad that this is your response. I'm sad for you, not for me. You have achieved some success, and you have good desires for your progeny. Sadly, you have a cancer in your heart, which will destroy all your dreams and desires. I want to say that you are struggling with racism,... but that's not true, based on your posts on this thread. You have embraced racism. It will destroy you. If you don't let go of it, it will pass on to your kids, and destroy them too.

I don't doubt that someone has done something wrong to you, and probably because of their own racism. Racism does exist, and even though things have gotten much better over the years... racism will always exist. Humans will never be able to eradicate racism, just as we will never eradicate lust, lying, stealing, or anything other sin. Even within our own lives, we will never be able to live perfectly towards others. Be we must struggle to be better, and to get rid of as much sin as we can in our lives.
Sadly, you have chosen to react towards racism, by becoming racist yourself. Your racism has lead you to believe things that are untrue about others... especially white people. This is very destructive, but not towards others, as much as to yourself. You are demonstrating bitterness & hatred towards people you have never met... some of them died years ago, but you still hate them. That kind of hatred can never be satisfied, but must be fed.
I have harbored bitterness and hatred towards others in my life too. Some of it, I was very aware of, and I called it "justice", because it was true that I had objectively been wronged by them. Others were a bit more hidden, and less obvious. In all these situations, I was a prisoner of my bitterness.... worse than that, I was torturing myself inside that prison. I had to forgive. It isn't easy, but it's the only way to get free.

Jesus gave a perfect picture of this in a parable.

"Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold was brought to him. Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. "At this the servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.' The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go. "But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded. "His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.' "But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened. "Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.
Matthew 18:23-34

The one who didn't forgive was thrown into jail to be tortured. Don't be that guy. It will destroy your life.

It isn't easy... that's for dang sure! I needed a group of friends who listened to my stories of "justice", and then lead me through prayer into the presence of the King from this parable. In that place, it was still hard, but I knew that I had to forgive. And He gave me peace in the exchange for my bitterness & unforgiveness.

I pray that you will find some brothers like that. I pray that you will look for them, more than you look for "justice".

Haha I don't get that impression of him at all. It's great to have someone here with a different perspective on this board aside from this circle jerk of all old white men.

If you're getting the impression he thinks Whitey is the enemy then you're too defensive. There's a group of people on this board that think white men and Christians are being persecuted, which is laughable. That just means your social circle is a bit too small. Everyone has a chip on their shoulder about something. One could say that's the very reason these message boards exist.

I can certainly understand the argument that from a historical, long term perspective that slavery and the Jim Crow era put black people as a whole at a huge disadvantage that still permeates today. A hundred years of fighting for their rights well into the civil rights movement didn't make all those problems magically disappear. Sure there was significant progress, but come on, equality of opportunity hasn't been reached, and it may never happen.

Race isn't just an American issue. These issues are global. I'm a white guy working in sales/engineering in Asia. One thing I know for certain, there are no black salesmen or engineers in Asia. At least I haven't met one in 10 years. Met plenty of white ones though. Why do you think that is? So I don't get defensive when I see people in my home country fighting for equality. Minorities, women, LGBT, religion, whatever the issue. It's something that will happen until the end of time all over the globe.
