It was the plan all along. Rob law enforcement of tax payer money and redirect to their own pet projects so they can line their pockets. When crime inevitably sky rockets, say "gee gosh whoops, we need more funding for police" but by taxing for more money. The original funds stay in their pockets. Sad it has come to that and the days of every store in areas looking like this or having those pull down gates/metal doors.
But this also does nothing to stop the people who run in during business hours to smash and grab.
Also, it won't be long until they start stealing saws to cut through them fast.
At some point, these businesses will close up and leave town. The maggots will migrate to the suburbs since their feeding grounds have dried up. The left tried to foment rage while Trump was in office and they were wildly successful. Once Biden took power, all those rage voters began to see they had been lied to by democrats. Things got worse. Promises repeatedly broken and a basic fumbling of every single issue has opened a lot of eyes, but ego stops them from seeing they were actually WRONG about a lot of the people on the Right they demonized so instead of switching sides, so to speak, we see "it's all bad! Tear it all down!" more and more. This is ultimately where that moral equivalency leads.

ANY action that security uses to stop a theft will be deemed excessive/hateful/racist etc and the Mayor will pander to the masses.
