Didn't get a generator, but someone on my street had a big tree chopped down. Stacks of logs are sitting there curbside. Better get to work cutting at least a cord of wood.

If your main worry is to keep your house heated, and you have central air/heat, a gas generator will work just fine. Each fan/blower will not exceed 10-12 amps generally speaking, and many generators can provide that. Running a few appropriaye extension cords to wherever your unit is much cheaper than getting a built in system that kicks in when electricity fails.

I don't live in Texas, but if I did, 100% I pick up a generator from Costco or something.
You can easily buy a small portable generator at a Costco or Home Depot. Buying a large residential generator that powers the whole house is not quite that easy.

Like I said, you don't need anything large or fancy to keep the heat on. If your goal is to power the entire home, that's just not a reasonable expense for most people.

The gas companies sure bought a governor with an assortment of legislators on the side.

If he wants to stay in the Gov's mansion, he'd better hope we don't have a repeat of last winter's power problems. We're already seeing unusual swings in normal weather patterns..right now we're having Oct in December...Will the Arctic pay us a late season visit? Who knows...

Good thing we don't rely on your memory but use actual facts and data because it was not the warmest november.

And no one has said global warming is a fraud. Only the man made part of it and that people have that big of an impact on the climate that has warmed and cooled for billions of years without man.

Man, I really wanted one but we had much trouble getting a bid. Generac owns the Southwest market. You have to buy from a dealer. They mark up the MSRP 90-100 percent. Expect to pay $2,000 to $3,000 for installation. Most of their distributors are out 4- 5 months.

Gonna wait for the hype to die down. Kohler and Taylor Power Systems are good options. They don't have much presence in the Southwest. For now, anyway.
Aren't you South of I-10?

Put on a sweater! Of course it needs to be sleeveless, V-neck.

Don't get scared by the global warming (love that discontinued phrase!) climate change nuts. They are just like the vaccine nuts.

If anything we need to march with pitchforks on the power companies who need to build out their systems to handle these spikes more readily.
Worried more than anything about another power grid failure. Hundreds of thousands of new homes being built to accomodate the huge influx of people moving here from blue states. The grid was stressed enough before they got here.
And that doesn't even account for the million illegals roaming around Texas.

Except for El Paso. Somehow, they've managed to only have citizens within their borders.

Said it was the warmest November ' I could remember ' in Colorado .

Regardless, takes a unique perspective to determine that over 7.8 billion humans have no impact on our planet's atmosphere .

Especially as there were less than one billion human inhabitants as late as the 1803.

I didn't say no impact. I said "that big of an impact"

Bush put up a 65 mile long wall separating El Paso from Juarez .

I know because my farm was 1 mile from it .

Before the wall El Paso residents were losing up to 200 cars and pickups stolen in a single WEEK.

After the wall car theft almost disappeared .
